The Tressel emails from SportsbyBrooks

I love Tressel's response on the first e-mail. Very professional. Chop, you're right. That is an odd way to write an e-mail.

Ohio State can get in line to get their butts handed to them by the NCAA.
'Sweater boy' and his band of 'Salesmen' really distinguished themselves.

Right now a couple of recruits are probably re-thinking their 'Commitments' to OSU.
(Most of them are not on campus yet)

the emails seem fake. what kind of lawyer uses psss. and what coach says "go bucks" after an email like that?
can you imagine saban signing an email "roll tide" after hearing about jimmy johns? it just seems a little too childish to be authentic.

Tressel mentions them in his statement, these were probably obtained by FOIA. The go bucks thing is probably part of his auto signature.

Are we certain the New NCAA has a rule to cover this? They had no rule about Cecil asking pay for Cam and "not actually getting it." They had no rule about OSU players selling mdse. when they were not "properly educated." What makes me think they have a rule to cover this? Tressel said he "did not think about violations" when reading the e-mails. He said he understood the federal investigator telling him "keep this quiet" and do not hinder our investigation. OSU skates once again. This is the NEW NCAA, remember.

What I know is that it is going to be fun living here in Columbus the next couple of days ...

These OSU fans have given new meaning to the word sanctimonious. I already had a lot of fun with the 5 suspended players being able to play in the bowl game (the win they will likely now forfeit or vacate) and now this. What a gift.

I just read some on one of their boards and the vast majority have this attitude: [Jim Tressel is an honest man of integrity. He really cares about his players. He would not knowingly cheat.] Well, I was kind of suspecting that since they are TOSU.

If they are fake, why did tOSU itself release them?

must be real but it shows a lack of professionalism.

it isnt in his other emails. even it was a personal email from a friend, i cant imagine responding like that. it just seems very flippant and casual...... almost as if it happens all the time up there.

This will be interesting to see how the NCAA acts on this. It should give us an idea on what they will do with *U.

I doubt it. I have no respect for the NCAA Enforcement Arm; I think they're severely biased against the SEC and Florida schools. That being said, I rationalize their handling of USCw by concluding the NCAA had so much evidence thrown at 'em they had to react. My view: Auburn is SEC, ergo Auburn will be hammered. (It'll take awhile, but it'll happen.) Tosu is Big Ten. Textbooks weren't involved. NCAA figures out a way to minimize the hassle for Tosu. No forfeits; maybe vacates their wins this past season. Then returns their focus to Auburn and Tennessee.

Yes yes, when it is them under fire they never "knowingly" cheat. When its a southern school, we "do it all the time."

They had a rule about Georgia players selling mdse. Ask AJ and Georgia about it.
