Bama v. UGA Postgame Thread...

I am so pumped!!! Great comeback win. I was ready to pack it in at the 7 minute mark and head back to the office. I'm so glad I stayed. Great great win today. And to top it off, a fellow Bama fan gave me free tickets to tomorrow's game! ROLL TIDE!!!!

Way to go - so glad to see the come back of Bama basketball not just today but for future teams as well. I just hope I have the right ingredients in the right dish - I was making a Cajun Cheesecake and a chocolate/peanut butter pie while trying to keep up with the game - we will find out tomorrow when I serve them.

Missed the whole game. Wished I had watched!

Same here. I was so focused on getting something done at work before heading out for spring break that I totally forgot about the whole thing. I saw some comments on facebook and realized I'd messed up.

Had a concert festival with my band today. We did well so I was already in a good mood (and Spring Break next week too:) ). I got a text from a friend that said Georgia and Bama going into overtime. I thought we had a big lead and let them back in it. When I found out how Bama clawed back, I was ecstatic!

Great win, Bama! Keep it rollin'!

Roll Tide!!

I'm betting you have created some new dishes but won't know how to repeat if they are any good...

Would Sip or someone tell me what's up with this team? They just keep on winning...and I really don't know ho. Is their defense that good? We don't see many SEC games up here in the Carolinas and I have been really, really busy in the last month. Any thoughts?

Padre, we don't give up. We may not have great size, but we have quickness at all five positions and we have sneaky good talent in the post, on the wing and at the point. What we don't have is great shooting, but as the season has turned, we hit 'em when we need to.

If this team stays together, the shooters and more size in the paint arrive next year. If we keep the selflessness and the intensity, we'll be a handful next year.

Hell, we're half-a-handful now. What a wonderfully rewarding year.

I have to admit I thought the Tide were done in the second half but I hadn't counted on the Sixth Man from Georgia to help the Tide. Yes, their coach prevented a Georgia win by calling a time out with 0.8 seconds left. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mr. Georgia Coach. The Tide took over and earned the win in OT. Great game guys, Coach Grant and his staff.

I recorded the game and watched it last night. GA came out strong in the 1st half, but the Tide hung in there and pulled out the win. Yes, they got some unexpected help from the GA sidelines, but we'll take all the help we can get.
Speaking of coaching, thanks again to CAG and his staff for keeping our guys calm and focused.
What I found funny is that all during the game the sportscasters kept talking about how GA would be in the Dance and the Tide would be left out. Wrong again, guys!!!
Congrats to the Tide for hanging in there and finding a way to win. Now on the the semifinals!!
:BigA:

This game was won by a guy in a suit. I don't know how he did it,,,, but he did it.

Thanks...the sum of the parts is greater than the individual total...and that is a team.

Huge win for the Tide! I could not watch the game as I was in the Dallas airport waiting on my flight back to Huntsville. I finally found a way to receive updates on blackberry so I kept up with the score last 8 minutes of the 2nd half and all of OT. I'm not a blackberry expert or else I would have been following the game the entire time. I think that win should seal the deal for an invitation to the big dance. I'm sure there will be a bias against the SEC so we will probably be one of the last teams in and receive a crappy seeding but just to make it in will be huge for this team and Coach Grant. This team has to rank among my all-time favorites since I have been following Bama basketball which has been nearly 30 years. We have 3 very talented players in Green, Mitchell, and Releford, and then the rest of the guys are role players. Green is a power forward that is having to play center due to us not having a true center at the moment. The 7' freshman (can't think of his name) and the JUCO guy should be able to fill that role next year so that Green can play his true position. We have no consistent outside shooting threat and that has been our achilles heel all year. When we get some shots to fall from the outside we are tough to beat because our defense is very good. I think the main reason we have won is that we are scrappy and will fight tooth-and-nail every game regardless of the score. If we can continue to do that as we build up our talent level, we should be able to start competing for championships at a higher level very soon. I am convinced that Coach Grant will put us in a position to seriously compete for a national championship in basketball very soon. As much as I love football, it would thrill me to no end if we won a NC in basketball.

One thing which has really helped is Mitchell's ability to hit the critical three. You know he has the green light from Grant to shoot it, or he wouldn't be doing it in OT. It's a scary, non textbook shot, because it's so flat, and that really decreases the size of the target. I used to play with a guy whose jumper was so flat that we used to joke that it scraped both the front and back rims... :D

It's a shame that our great win yesterday is somewhat overshadowed by the continued fallacy that Ware's shot would've won the game. That shot absolutely positively would NOT have counted. Only Barry Booker has made this point. Every other story talks about Mark Fox calling a timeout that negated a game winning shot. Not true. Watch the video. The clock stops at 0.8 seconds before Ware takes his final step, jump, and releases the ball. He couldn't do all of that in 0.8 seconds.

It's a shame that an intriguing story is being repeated more than what actually happened. I do believe that the play negatively affected UGA's mindset heading into OT. They didn't get the benefit of watching the replay...they had to play 5 more minutes.

i don't think it would've beaten the buzzer either.
