I never said Arky did not get what they wanted. Please read I said they have yet to recruit a great QB. Arky fans can call Allen the next whatever just like how all off season we heard that Wilson could easily replace Mallett. Never happened and again when Arky can get a top QB Wrs will flourish in that system.
Your opinion and the rest of the hog fans may may be that Arky is bringing in the top tier QBs each year but mine is they are not and the only one that have had was by default becuase Carr left UM.
I guess me being uniformed about Arky's QB situation is like all the Hog fans spring and summer being informed how Arky was a national contender this year. 8)
Brandon Allen was the exact qb Petrino and McGee wanted, period, end of story, He was their #1 on the board. That is not my opinion, it is fact.
Wilson is the best QB in the SEC, guess he sucks. I'd take him over your two any day, you would too but you'll not admit it. Wilson was recruited by Saban by the way. If you check your stats, Wilson did better at T-Town than Mallet did in their first games against the Tide. Wilson is putting up better numbers as well. Arkansas is extremely young on o-line with Smothers and Cook being true freshmen

Statistically Wilson did better than Mallet. That's great. He still got his tail whipped like Mallet did. You're right Major Applewhite wanted Tyler Wilson. Major Applewhite was also "allowed" to leave Alabama to take a lesser job.
CNS did recruit Wilson but he never recruited Allen and he was not offered by any other schools even though he is reportedly a talented QB. Allen's father, Bobby Allen, is an Arkansas assistant coach. I am sure that had something to do with his Arkansas recruitment. According to Slophouse, Bobby Allen said that his son "is a Division-I athlete but is he an SEC quarterback? I can’t answer that, but y’all will have to go through the evaluation process and make the determination if you think he’s good enough." I guess Petrino and the Arkansas staff think he is 'good enough.' Especially if he was their top choice and they were the only team to offer him a scholarship. We will see how he works out in the end.
Bama's QBs A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims were top performers at the Elite 11 and among the top QBs in their classes. They are both fine QBs for Bama just as Wilson is a fine QB for Arkansas. I like McCarron's winning ways so far and wouldn't trade either of them for Wilson.

Yes that is a fact, that does not mean Petrino and McGee can actually evaluate talent. Just because your coaches wanted a player does not make him great. Again my arguement is Arky has yet to recruit a top tier QB. Even his so called great recruitment had very little competition from any other school The only other schools that wanted him were Baylor and UCLA. LSU offered as 2nd QB in their class and that was contigent if everyone else went elsewhere. So the great Baylor and UCLA sees the same thing as Petrino. Again just because your coaches think hes great does not make him so. Remember 112(I think) DI schools recruit what they think is a great everyyear and the majority of them never end up great.
In regards to Tyler Wilson no I would not want him at UA. No matter his stats he still lost to UA, FACT. In regards to AJ he is undefeated, FACT. The better QB for a chance to win the big games AJ, FACT based on the better record. In regards to your opinion about Wilson being the best QB in the SEC it is just that. See stats mean very little in the end. The best QB is the one standing in the end as the SEC Champion QB. Not some QB ywho could only gain alot of yards in games that did not count.
In regards to your excuse about extremely young and inexperience on the O, that does not matter unless the coach can develop them, and from what I have seen Petrino and staff can not. Because last year Arky's and their fans excuse was a young defense and we heard from the fans and Petrino about how improve they were all during the off season. You guys even had the media buying it, just not me.
personally, i think wilson is the best qb in the sec. with the real young off tackles he has been taking as much punishment as any qb i have seen this year. i could only imagine a qb with his arm running our offense. so many weapons with in at the helm. equally good rushing or passing hard to beat. our team will basically be a game manager type qb as long as coach is here. so be it. i like the success we have i also imagine a qb like mccarron or sims could be successful in a wide open attack as well. its been a long time since i seen one of our qbs turned loose to throw 4 touchdowns.
The world is not black and white. Both kids are fine players. Put A.J. on Arkansas, would he have the numbers of Wilson? What would Wilson do with the Alabama team around him?
Great fun to speculate. But there's no need to diminish anyone here. Wilson played a fine and brave game in Tuscaloosa. A.J., in my opinion, played his best all-around game against Vanderbilt. We have done a superb job protecting him so far. How would he stand in against type of pressure we threw against Wilson? Let's hope we never find out.

Something DGB needs to consider... When did Arky have a WR get drafted in the top 10? And the drafting team trade up 20 spots?

Our Wr's coach went to see him play this past Friday Night and he went to the Arkansas vs Auburn game this past weekend which isn't surprising considering it is closer to him. But, would expect him to make a journey for the Nov 5th Clash of the Titans (which will have a who's who of recruits at the game.)
Look, Wilson is a fine QB but let's face it, he wasn't good enough to put that team on his back and beat Alabama, was he? As to your statement he's the best in the SEC, that's hard to say. I'd say Aaron Murray gives him a run for his money. Besides, I'm not convinced a pass happy offense like Arkansas can consistently win in the SEC. You gotta be able to effectively and consistently run the ball and you guys can't do that. And winning is what it's all about.
If you're being honest with yourself, you'd be man enough to admit that Wilson would rather have that SEC Championship ring on his hand and lesser stats than having gaudy stats and no ring.

Wilson is a great QB, and has earned respect. Would I want him OVER ours? Probably not, but I would have no problem with him being our starter.
I do think this is a factor in the DGB discussion. He is looking as much at the QB he will be playing with as anything else. If I was him this factor would probably be a wash. I would be looking at the coaching, schemes, overall team strength, and <gasp> course of study.

This QB and offensive scheme comparison is on topic and appropriate for this thread. However, I would like to get back to discussion of the recruitment of Dorial Green Beckham and not just Arkansas vs. Bama QBs.

HawgSports.com is reporting that DGB is down to a top two favorites of Arkansas and OU followed by Bama and the barn.
