BDS Game Presentation...

I like Sweet Caroline. I enjoyed it at PSU. But did anyone notice the female Big AL during the song last week? When did we get her? WHat is her name? And since she is a female, should we call her "Big"?

I thought we had had a female mascot for a while. Maybe we should call her "Petite Ally"

I've been to every game, home and away, the last four years and I have never noticed her. Doesn't mean she was not there though.

Well it's not like Sweet Caroline is as lame as doing the freakin wave during the middle of the game.

One complaint: male cheerleader trying to pump crowd up about 45 mins before the game.

Everything else is superb (including Sweet Caroline).

I like the game experience. The walk of champions is special. The videos played in the stadium leading up to the game are excellent. The band coming into the stadium from all four corners is cool. The lead-up to the team entering the field is exciting. I love it when the band plays “Tusk”, although some will say it is associated with USC-W. Coach C. doing his thing on video is great. I like the Diamond and Sweet Caroline, and yes, every game I’ve been to the crowd gets into it.
We’ve always wanted to develop into a loud, intimidating stadium and we are getting that way. The things they have done to enhance the game day experience have been wonderful and helpful in getting the crowd into the game. (Except for the Vandy game, the crowd was awful).
So I don’t understand all the complaints and nit-picking.

Since this entire thread has turned into a complaint thread I would like to register mine; our band. I absolutely love bands and I love our Million Dollar Band, but... Do we always have to have some theme like paying tribute to some obscure collection of 1920's show tunes, Elton John, Waltz music, or something else like that? :conf2: I wish Dr Ozzello would save all that stuff for competitions and just play stuff the crowd could enjoy during halftime. Maybe it's just me, but when I look around our stadium I don't see a bunch of Elton John fans. Oh, one more thing, does Dr. Ozzello know that the stadium has 4 sides? The TN band managed to put on a show that entertained people in every section on every side of the stadium. Can we not do that?

Flame away.

Haha! I was about to ask how long before a thread started that complained of how our band fares on the field in comparison with Tennessee's! I totally agree with you, but I must throw this defense for the MDB out there. What Tennessee did was their famous Circle drill that they do once EVERY year, and they always seem to do it when they play us. Not all of their halftime shows are like that. But your right, the MDB does a better job than Nyquil since Dr. O took over. They're great in the stands, but lets face it, the pregame show sucks (I never really feel the need to be in my seat for the pregame anymore), and the halftime show is always nothing special. The music sucks, the drill is slow moving and boring, and even when they face the side of the stands that I'm on, I still can't hear them that well. Tennessee's band may have had 80 or less players facing my direction at all points of their show, and I still could hear them better than when the entire MDB faced me, on the field. (Once again, I LOVE the MDB in the stands, just not the field.) I've never seen a Dr. O halftime where I felt moved enough to say, "Wow, the show designer really put all of himself into that show." If he is putting all of himself into the halftime shows, then he is a boring man with no passion. JMharshO.

I've been to almost every SEC stadium and multiple NFL stadiums for games, none of them compare to the sheer scope and scale of production put on at a game at BDS. The closest thing I've ever seen was at a Falcons game last year when the Saints were in town and it was a game for who would control the AFC South. And even that doesn't compare to any SEC game in BDS.

For all those who want to complain about it, trust me, it could be far far worse and we should all be thankful for the amount of effort and production that goes into these games. People complain about the videos, at least we have very high quality videos that get the crowd pumped, not some silly commercials or something to kill the mood! The sound being too loud? At least we can hear it and it's not completely out of sync with the videos like so many other stadiums I've been to where the sound comes from one giant speaker system in one corner of the endzone...

I love the whole production at BDS. I'm not even into that kind of music, the Hip hop and rap, but I like it in that setting because it has some kind of rhythm and energy to it. I'd shoot myself if we just played some stupid country songs all game long.

Fans are no longer spectators like years past where you're just there to watch the game, we are now participants in the game and part of the experience, people need to accept that if they like the winning cus recruits don't want to go to a dull game experience.

I usually lurk a lot and do not post much, but I find it amazing that no matter what Bama does, someone can complain about it. Whether it is on the field or off, someone always finds the negative. I personally like the songs that get you amped up before and during the game (and I am 40). It makes me want to go and hit somebody and I hope thats exactly what it does for the team. I also love it when the crowd stands and screams the whole time, it makes the game more electric. I am not there to have conversations and hear why others think we are doing something else wrong. I have had season tickets for 10 years and I think we have come a long way!
By the way, what is the Jay Z song they play about 10 minutes before the national anthem? Its not the one with Rhianna.
Roll Tide everybody! bring the noise on the 5th!

The worst part of it is I am one of the biggest supporters among your average fans for the band. Many people don't think the band is important to the game experience or serves a real purpose. I don't believe that and I applaud the young men and women that make up our band and the hard work they put into it. They execute the show with perfection and they sound wonderful, but the material they work with is poo poo in my opinion. Maybe TN's show is their famous circle drill, and if that's the case maybe we need to come up with a famous square drill or something because that show rocked. They were twice as loud as MDB was at any point, not to mention they played to the entire stadium.

Dr. O needs to recognize his audience and play to it. We didn't show up at an opera house or concert hall, we are at a football game. We aren't music critics or there to judge the band on different technical aspects. We are a crowd at a football game who just want to be entertained.

For those of you that think the MDB should be more like UT when it comes to halftime realize their circle drill is done every year and always for Alabama. This is the show they did prior to it. If you can make it 3 minutes in to it you are the 1% that did ;)

I don't care if TN did it once a century. What their band did last Sat night is what a halftime show should be. Maybe everything they ever do again will stink, but we don't even do one show a year that I've seen as good as that. We've got the best stadium, coach, team, gameday experience in the country and our band is second to none in talent and ability. They just don't have a great show to perform. Believe me, its not about the students.

TN ought to be good at that "circle drill" show...they've been performing it since I first saw them perform in 1986 (and maybe longer)...I'm about tired of it personally...it's old and worn out.

Everyone seems to say "I don't like what they do now....I wish they catered more to the fans...." etc. OK then ...what DO you want to see? What songs do you want? Serious question...and I wan specific songs/show ideas. I don't want general statements, because I was in the MDB for five years. I heard all the time how people wished we did different shows, but none of those people would say what they wanted to see. I really want to know what people want to see (and don't give me "Kathryn Scott shows" as an answer).

Double the volume and quadruple the GE. I marched as well, and the volume of the current MDB is pathetic. They announce 400 members, but the sound is more like 100 members. Someone needs to let loose the brass section instead of worrying about a symphonic sound. Edit: They also need to pick up the pace...every song regardless of what it is is played at the same plodding tempo, especially Yea Alabama! which should be played with much more energy. The setting on the metronome must be stuck.
