Hey guys. Here to talk a little friendly football. Here is to a great game.

First off, congrats on making in this far undefeated in the best confrence in football.

My question is this: How do you think LSU runs the ball against your GREAT defense? We have an above average stable, but your D is truly one of the best ive ever seen. Big, Physical and pretty fast too.

Also, LSU is pretty deep at every position on both sides of the ball. I think we will try the outside lanes with Shepard and get our big FB out front. You guys are bigger and real fast...i think LSU has a step on BAMA in the speed dept. (Yet it is very close)

Anyways, good luck and here is to an injury free game!!

GEAUX TIGERS!! and if we dont come away with a win, then RTR!:BigA:

Welcome. Looking forward to this game, it doesn't get any better than this. LSU is a good, solid team. I know this is our biggest game of the year, it's going to be a battle. How the ball bounces, who has a bit of luck, turnovers, field position and who can run the ball all will play a part in who wins this one. Too close to call. I'll be pulling for the Tide. Good luck!

To answer your question, IMO, I think we take some of your run game away, I would think we limit LSU run offense to under 100 yards, if not, could be a long day for us.

I dont see a blowout win by either team. Special teams WILL play a part wether it be a blocked punt, big return or missed FG.

Welcome.

I don't think LSU will be able to run effectively outside the tackles. I believe they will have to beat us with their arms which may loosen up the running game. IDK, but I cannot wait until Saturday night.

I agree that it SHOULDN'T be a blowout by either team, but one never knows. I do think one team pulls away in the 4th and wins by 2 TD's.

If we rattle your QB's and shut / slow down the run, I like our chances, if not, woe is us.

If both teams play A Game football, it's going to be fun to watch.

These teams are very close and VERY similar on both sides of the ball. Im not going to break down position by position, but i think LSU has the advantage at WR and Special teams.

Bama, IMO, has advantage at LB and RB. Every other position is very close and basically a wash. DANG I CANT WAIT!!

I'd agree about the positions advantage. I don't know who yall have on ST, but outside of our return game, our kicking and punting have not been consistent (or effective often). I do think we have a solid edge at LB and RB and with Randle, yall have the best WR on either team. Both teams have good secondaries and good OL/DL. It should be a good one, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either team pull away because both defenses have created a lot of opportunities.

Im not sure of the exact numbers, but our special teams have allowed like 6 punt return yards all year. LSU has a very good punter and coverage team. Will probably pin BAMA deep most of the game

I will admit to having a couple concerns going into this game. Our defense is very big and very strong, but I do believe we give up a half step to LSU in that match up, but we play our positions well enough we should be ok there. I am not completely sold on the fact that we can't be passed on. Yes I know how good our guys are and statistically we have shut down the passing game, but I still see an opportunity there for LSU. Not saying they have the best QB in the world, but if he gets hot I think we are open to problems there. I have to admit our kick coverage still scares me to death. Do I think they will take it to the house every time? No, but you can't give a team like LSU good field position repeatedly and expect to not give up points. What if this turns into a good old fashioned defensive struggle? You finally score and a big return flips the field on you again. Or poor punt coverageallows them to flip field position on you after a big defensive stop. I am hopefully wrong, but punt and kick coverages could hurt us. JMHO

And as WVU showed LSU can easily give up yards through the air. LSU relies on turnovers; Alabama hasn't done much of that this year.

Totally agree. Many of LSU's impressive wins have been the result of being opportunistic and capitalizing on their good fortune.

Alabama on the other hand has been focused and disciplined as well as patient. They play steady and smart and as their opponent becomes frustrated they begin to take over and pound them into submission.

This being said, if LSU wins it will be big plays, special teams and turnovers.

If Alabama wins it will be methodical and deliberate focus and execution.

If there's anywhere that our defense has been vulnerable this year, it's the intermediate passing game. We have aggressive LBs that come up toward the LOS and leave a lot of field behind them for our secondary to handle. I look for LSU to mimic what FL did in the first half, and try to get that passing game going, along with some outside running using the speed sweep and WR reverses using Sheppard. Ware will get some yardage up the middle, but I can't see LSU winning the game trying to run into the teeth of our D.

IMO, if LSU can run the ball effectively without depending on the pass to loosen up our front seven, we're going to have a tough day. That said, I don't see it happening that way. Tigers are going to HAVE to pass to set up the run.

The key for our D is going to be getting off the field when we get them in 3rd down passing situations.

I would say LSU is faster, and Alabama is much more physical.
Who wins probably depends on turnovers as much as anything.

If we need an edge, we plant Loco Weed on the LSU sideline...
(Just in case Les get's the munchies...) ;)

IMHO: This is one of a few games played that may live up to it's hype.

I don't think it's possible for both teams to play 'A' game football...at least not on both sides of the ball. I feel like both defenses will be playing their 'A' games though, and it's going to be a low scoring affair. I agree with OP though on the grounds that if Bama doesn't win it, I hope LSU can take it to the house in the NCG. Here's hoping for a fantastic game.

Hopefully Bama's big offensive line will wear them down, and AJ starts better than he did against ut. ROLL TIDE !!

i doubt BAMA will wear down LSU D line...We are just too deep there. Seriously, 8 or 9 guys and the talent drop off is ZERO

Welcome. If I was on your side of the ball and wanted to run it, I'd have plays designed to take advantage of our pursuit and aggressive play. Traps, counters, reverses, shovels (called pass, but really a running play), that sort of thing depending on what you call them in your offensive scheme. The trick of it for you will be to run those plays a little quicker than you normally would -- if you are late on a handoff or pitch, it might get blown up before it gets started. Bottom line though, I'd run just enough to keep the linebackers/safeties honest -- I'd focus on trying to win by passing, with a good mix of screens, play action and throws to tight ends.

Good luck. Sort of a shame that come Sunday the second best team in the country isn't even going to win its half of our conference.
