no disrespect intended, but I wouldn't be surprise if our OL does wear down your Dline regardless of how deep you are.

It's certainly possible. It could go either way in that regard. LSU's OL is good, and their backs are capable.

Welcome. If I was on your side of the ball and wanted to run it, I'd have plays designed to take advantage of our pursuit and aggressive play. Traps, counters, reverses, shovels (called pass, but really a running play), that sort of thing depending on what you call them in your offensive scheme. The trick of it for you will be to run those plays a little quicker than you normally would -- if you are late on a handoff or pitch, it might get blown up before it gets started. Bottom line though, I'd run just enough to keep the linebackers/safeties honest -- I'd focus on trying to win by passing, with a good mix of screens, play action and throws to tight ends.

Good luck. Sort of a shame that come Sunday the second best team in the country isn't even going to win its half of our conference.

This. This is exactly how I would gameplan against Alabama if I had to. I hope LSU tries to run straight at us, I would be surprised if they had much success, and I really like our chances against that much better than I do against the pass.

These teams are very close and VERY similar on both sides of the ball. Im not going to break down position by position, but i think LSU has the advantage at WR and Special teams.

Bama, IMO, has advantage at LB and RB. Every other position is very close and basically a wash. DANG I CANT WAIT!!

As a Bama fan, I agree. Randle has really come into his own and is going to have a great career in Baton Rouge, and hopefully now everyone sees why we tried so hard to get him to come to Tuscaloosa. Barron/Milliner/Kirkpatrick are absolutely going to have their hands full on saturday. To me, this will be THE most fascinating matchup to watch on saturday night--your wideouts vs. our secondary.

On special teams, you guys are ranked 6th nationally and 1st in the conference in net punting--but I'm not sure you've faced a team that can return punts/kicks as good as we can. Maze is a burner and is a homerun threat every time he has the ball in space.

As I've said before, I see two very evenly matched teams, but I predict one will start to weaken early in the fourth qtr under the other's defense. This game could come down to conditioning and depth.

My question is this: How do you think LSU runs the ball against your GREAT defense? We have an above average stable, but your D is truly one of the best ive ever seen. Big, Physical and pretty fast too.

Also, LSU is pretty deep at every position on both sides of the ball. I think we will try the outside lanes with Shepard and get our big FB out front. You guys are bigger and real fast...i think LSU has a step on BAMA in the speed dept. (Yet it is very close)

Believe it or not, I think how our defense (particularly our linebackers) respond to the fullback will be the difference in the game. We're excellent at stopping the run, but I can't remember an opponent that we've faced that has used a traditional blocking fullback. Our backers face linemen all the time and shed their blocks, because although they're as big as most of the linemen, they're much faster and more agile than them. Both of LSU's fullbacks (one of which is a converted o-linemen if I'm not mistaken) have excellent agility in the hole. If our guys can control that, we can control the running game. If we can control the run, we take away a critical facet of LSU's offense. Because that sets up everything else: the play action pass deep, the number of defenders required in the box, defensive coverages, etc. If our guys can't adjust to this, we'll be in for a long day. But I'm sure the coaching staff has prepared them properly.

Both teams have outstanding stats but neither team has played the quality of team they will meet on Saturday. Although LSU has a slight edge in the turnover department I don't know that it will make a huge difference against a D like the Tide's. I look for a key turnover to be a factor and my greatest concern is LSU getting agression penalties. I want a game where both teams are at their best so that the winner doesn't have to listen to any excuses.

It'd be nice to see a game where it's a slugfest on both sides of the ball. Punch and counterpunch. Both teams playing well.. Hopefully with the Tide claiming a hard fought win.

as mentioned before, Lee or JJ have not faced a better defense than the ones this Nov. 5th. you can forget all about the Xs and Os if the LSU OLine can't protect their QB. Lee has had it made thus far w/o any real pressure up front. that will change this Saturday. Lee isn't mobile and we all know what happens when he gets rattle!! If they can protect Lee , it will be a long day for Bama.

The only team to have any success passing on us was Florida early on. Brantley got rid of the ball quickly. That's LSU's passing game in a nutshell. DBs give way too much respect to Shepard, Randle, and Beckham and they stick them with the short, quick passes all day. Come up close and they run right past you for a long TD. Either way, it's a pre-snap read and quick decision. Can't say I've seen either of their guys survey the field and pick apart a defense. Not saying they can't but they have the athletes that will go get it for them every time they make a first read pass

I promise you, this is an area that concerns me the least. LSU LB is where you should attack. Get a back or tight end to match up on our LB's. This is where you will have the advantage

Plain & simple based on History, if LSU would defeat Alabama it would be because they were able to run on our defense & stop our running attack. The teams that do this win, you should know this is what LSU was able to do. "this is a fact." No matter what all else everyone likes to match up, the key for Alabama is #1. Stop the Run #2. Run the Ball.

With that said, I do think their is one small advantage to the Tide, (with no Disrespect), it is Coach Saban. I think Right now today he knows if his team is ready. I think when you give him this kind of time to prepare, he has his staff get ready for every twist & turn.

If Bama has 200 plus yards rushing, it will not be a close game, if LSU runs for over 200 yards we are in trouble.

That is not Bama's weakest position. That would be special teams. I would have to argue also that AJ is a better QB than Greg at the same point in their respective careers.

For the first time this year I am a little nervous about this game. Both teams are so much alike it feels as if we are playing ourselves. Not sure that's an advantage, but still makes me worry. Alabama will need to play almost mistake free.

Like several have said in this thread. I really think this game comes down to a turnover or two late. I just hope LSU does the turning over. I look foward to watching a great game Saturday. Roll Tide!

My biggest concern is if LSU is able to run the ball inside. If they can and Bama is unable to run, they will keep the ball away from our O, grind us down and pull away in the 4th. They were effective in the 2nd half last season. Hopefully that won't happen. I look for Bama's TE to play a big part in a Tide win.

My take on the game ..... taking a leaf from Leroy Jethro Gibbs MO, I'm listening to my gut which tells me that the Tide will win. Don't know how or who but it's just a gut feeling. Not exactly scientific but I have learned to listen to the aforementioned gut which has served me well over the years.
