Game Thread: Oklahoma - Oklahoma State

A note to all you "we had our chance" folks...

THAT'S NOT THE FREAKING POINT.

The purpose of the BCS is to match up the two best teams. The voters are ethically bound to make that consideration. If they honestly think OSU is better, then so be it. But the neverending talk on Twitter, talk radio and op-ed pieces for weeks is about the "interesting" match up between the Pokes and the Tigers. That's what has me upset, and it should have you upset, too. Don't denigrate your own team by suggesting we somehow blew it. Yes, we put ourselves in this position, but the position we're in shouldn't disqualify us, especially juxtaposed against a team, no matter how flashy the offense, that lost to a 6-6 Iowa State.
WE BLEW IT.

GET OVER IT.

We had the chance to remove the SUBJECTIVE aspect of the BCS from the picture, and we didn't do it.

THAT is the point.

Has we handled our business, we wouldn't have to worry about the subjective voters.

But we do.

No matter how much you believe Bama is the best or second best team in the country, it doesn't matter. once we lost on 11/5, we left it in the hands of other folks

So yah, we blew it. Any argument otherwise is merely emotion.

That isn't true - most have said that they feel that Alabama is the 2nd best team. The only problem has been that some are against (1) a rematch, (2) 2 teams from same conference in BCSCG or (3) a non-conf champion.

Right. Even Brando said it today on the SECCG pre-game show. Everyone on that panel said that LSU and Bama are the top 2 teams in the country. Some votes will change, but will enough votes change? That's the question. It's obvious that OU is not in this game, and it's not so much that OSU is effecting them as they are beating themselves with stupid mistakes. I don't think that fact is lost on every voter.

That's what I've been screaming. You're supposed to vote for the 2 best teams; not the matchup you want to see, not to vote against a rematch, not who's offense is better. If the voters truly feel that OSU is better than I'm cool with it. But if they vote that way and bring up the fact that they didn't want to see a rematch then I'm gonna be really ticked off!

Unfortunately, that's the society we live in today. Who cares what's right? What do I want?

We still get to go to a BCS bowl, went 11-1 beat Auburn in the ground at their place. I say it is a successful year....and Trent will be in new York.

That's the problem - some of you are viewing it as a 'right' and 'wrong' issue - it's not. It's subjective.

We believe Bama is the best team in the country and can argue why, yet we lost our chance to make that argument on 11/5. That's the fact. Now it's purely up to the subjective view of the voters.

No one here is saying OSU is better than Bama. We're just saying we lost our chance to have a strangle-hold on the BCSCG when we blew it on 11/5.

Facts is facts.

Now we have to hope the voters feel the same way we do.

You never know we may still be in the BCS title game. TR may get the Heisman, and honestly those who had OK State at 4 or 5 cannot ethically move them to two. They didn't do well enough to jump two teams-Stanford and Alabama.
