Looks like Trent's not gonna win the Heisman

Any UA fan should be biased, but for me the vote is more about how your team finishes based on your performance in each game. TR never cost UA a game. Even in the LSU game TR played great, better than anyone else against LSU, and it was not his fault the staff did not put the ball in his hands every time we got to the 30. But on the other hand, RGIII lost all 3 games for his team. See everyone wants to look at his xbox numbers but yet the most important stat for me is the 5 ints during the 3 losses that got his team into the Alamo Bowl. People seem to overlook that even on here. To me that is the same as saying OSU had the better body of work and deserves to play LSU. Simply over looking the ISU loss.

In complete agreement - fantastic player with insane stats (overlooking the competition and all), but the THREE losses is pretty big in my book. Take away a loss or two and I'm not nearly as hesitant, but it's a big deal to me in my thinking. Just my honest opinion and nothing against him whatsoever.

IMO Trent is the best player in CFB. He is an amazing athlete and can single handily take control of a game. Not to mention, he handles himself very well off the field.

If TR isn't gonna win it though, then I have no problem with RGIII getting it. He is one of the best players in the nation. It's a shame he plays for a team like Baylor. He also sounds like a great young man based on his interview from the Bowl Selection Show.

Luck is a great player too, and he handles himself very well. But I just feel like RGIII is more deserving based on this season.

I have only ever heard RGIII speak once and that was last night when he was asked what the win over Texas meant to his team and his response was "Baylor just got thier first Heisman". Sorry but cocky does not impress me.

People need to remember they were taking TR out of the Heisman because UA lost to LSU, even though he a had a great game. My question is why should RGIII get a pass for 3 losses, except he got to play this weekend.

I heard him speak several times during the course of the year and came away very impressed with him - he seemed very humble, well-mannered and a class-act.

I heard that last night too, and my first inclination was to do a double-take. Honestly, it perturbed me and my wife quite a bit and made me think the same thing you did. I pretty much wanted anyone but him to win - LOL

But he was very gracious and humble (IMO) in his interview during the Bowl Selection Show tonight... I'm think last night might well have been an anomaly and he was just hopped up after a victory. I really can't fault him for that and nobody's perfect, so I'm willing to let it go now. :)

That was my first impression as well, but I was impressed listening to him tonight. He sounded a lot more humble. I think he was probably just a little too emotional coming off a great performance.

My thoughts exactly. Trent always plays inspired ball; but he will have a plethora of reasons to lay it all on the line in this one. The O-line loves and respects Trent, they will have something to prove, as well.

On a side note, I like Bama coming in an underdog and with LSU having all the hype. Kind of reminds me of 1992.

I've been thinking this game will be just like '92 ever since the Okie St loss to the Cyclones put us back in the picture. LSU even has that same thuggish swagger the U had back then. So I'm hoping we do like in '92 and just blow the NC game wide open.

I am disappointed as much as anyone here for Trent. I am not however going to hate on RGIII though if he wins due to the fact that he pretty much saved Alabama's hide by his heroics against Oklahoma. Had Oklahoma only had the one loss going into the OK St game, I think that would have tipped the scales for OK St had they blown out OU. If OU showed up since they would have had motivation and won, then OU would have probably jumped us, THUS RGIII did us a favor in the big picture! Again, Trent should get the award but what can ya do?

maybe u should listen to some of his past interviews. he's a pretty humble guy. I mean, a Baylor player winning the heisman? lol.. dude can say anything he wants. i have him at 1 on my list followed by Luck then Trent. thats not the order of the better player BTW

I know there are a lot of negative indicators for Trent Richardson but I am holding out hope the late votes go to Trent Richardson.

1) Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama: After going to the same high school as Emmitt Smith, he's spent the past two years backing up 2009 Heisman winner Mark Ingram. Even as a backup, I'm still impressed by the game he had as a true freshman against a very good Texas defense in the 2009 BCS game. Richardson has blossomed as a starter this year, running very hard and showing great moves. He evades tacklers, catches the ball well, blocks well and even excelled on special teams early in his career. He has great speed, strength and character. And his team is 35-2 in his three years.

We have some excellent candidates this season. Texas had not allowed a touchdown pass over 20 yards this season until Saturday. RGIII put two on them. On the season, he averaged 36 yards per touchdown pass. He can throw the deep ball with a feathery touch, hitting receivers in stride. It is a bit unfair to hang the losses totally on him. The Baylor defense is not in the top 100 in the nation so the offense is under pressure to score nearly every time they have the ball. Baylor put over forty points on Mack Brown and Bob Stoops and then put 66 on Tuberville. Those three are veteran coaches who do not like to get shown up but they were unable to stop Baylor. With less than a minute to play and no timeouts, RGIII went the length of the field on Oklahoma. Remember that Baylor picks up the scraps like RGIII after Oklahoma, Texas, and TAMU have their pick. No other major team gave RGIII the chance to play QB.
Trent is a great back. The problem is that Alabama didn't put the season in Trent's hands until after the LSU game. It has never been about awards at Alabama, it has been about winning. Any reasonable Tide fan understands that and I think Trent understands that. Trent has made a lot of individual sacrifices to be part of a great team. The payoff comes in New Orleans.

As much as I want Trent to win, after the nervousness and pressures over the past two nights, I have realized what is more important: wins and a shot at the National Championship. Even Trent said it, "If I dont win, it will just be an honor to be there and be recognized for my achievements." I will still try to persuade any voter I can via twitter, email, etc. but if does not win, I will still be able to watch him kick some LSWho butt in the BCSNCG!!!!

I want TR to win the Heisman. But, IMO this award has become a popularity contest and really just isn't a big deal as maybe it was a long time ago. IMO, TR is absolutely the best player in the best conference and he earned EVERY single yard he gained this year. TR has his priorities in order and although sure he might be disappointed, has bigger opportunities on the horizon.

RTR!!!!

Does anyone else think it is ridiculous that teams like Oklahoma State and Baylor get to play on "Championship Weekend" even though they have no championship game? I know the Big Ten and Pac 10 did it for years, but I don't think Oklahoma State would have gotten nearly as many #2 votes if they beat Oklahoma the same weekend we crushed Auburn. And the same goes for Trent's performance vs RGIII. It seems like to me if you have no championship game, you should be done Thanksgiving weekend when everyone else is.

I'm holding on till Saturday. Just like yesterday, don't discount that there is enough people who will do the Right thing. Y'all relax.

The final Heisman Pundit straw poll is out and it is given RGIII the nod as expected. But what I did not know is that it is only made up of 13 total voters and it appears only one is from the south. I assume is using a predictor based on location from those 13 votes and than project that out for that region.

For all the people who think this thing is fair, well out of his 13 total voters TR only showed up a 6 ballots. The bias out there TR might not even get invented.
