Uniform changes are ridiculous. NCAA needs to set a Uniform code.

Just what college football needs is another NCAA rule that won't be enforced.

As long as Alabama keeps it traditional, I don't give a rat's rear end what other teams wear--especially when we don't play them on a regular basis.

ETA: If you are reading Twitter today, the consensus of current and former Bama football players is they think the Oregon uniforms are sick. It's an AGE thing, folks.

As long as it's not Bama..I don't really care..Other schools can look as ridiculous as they wanna..
But if there helmets distract and cause problems with our team. I want to have someones head. That should be stopped. What are they going to have next. Have bird feathers on the damn helmets?

Like the NFL, college football is moving strongly toward promoting more speed. And thus a lot of essential equipment (like knee pads, butt pads, and in some cases, thigh pads) either aren't worn or there's a thin piece of material on just to say that you have one on. Shorter, tighter the pants, the faster you can move. *shrug*
Seems like that might help on a fast break also... :D

Having been in both situations, trust me, my preference is looser shorts in basketball. The tight ones were VERY constricting and uncomfortable. In football, the pants were so tight that it was like I barely had anything on. Not even noticeable. Basketball, though, I (and everybody else in the gym) was well aware. Not the business, man.

Flame away if needed but I think if a college recruit chooses a school solely based on the school's uniforms, I would think we would not want them.

I think the Oregon helmets and the uniforms are getting ridiculous. NCAA or the Conferences need to agree on a Uniform code. Like

  • You are only allowed 2 home and 2 away jerseys. as well as helmets
  • The Helmets cannot have glare, like the Rose bowl helmets, it can be a disadvantage.
What say you?
I dont understand why people get so bothered by this. Its not your team. Why do you care what someone else does? Its just a uniform.

Consider this...if you play Boise on the blue field and they wear blue helmets, blue jerseys, and blue pants on the blue field, that seems to create an advantage for them. For me, it is all about the principle of things.

I haven't played football since HS, but the uniforms back in the Stone Age were constrictive. OTOH, I played basketball weekly until a few years ago. I naturally wasn't in short shorts then. However, I did try a pair of the knee-length shorts for kicks and found all the extra fabric very distracting. However, that's just my take - and I'm old... :D

OK, flame away - but I think the chrome helmets look pretty cool!
I agree...but you gotta wonder about the glare! They just don't seem to go with the rest of the uni to well either. But I'm guessing that changes as the game goes on and the light reflection changes?

As long as it doesn't create an advantage of any kind, I have no problem with it...

Several teams have green uniforms and play on green grass. Its never been an issue before. Boise also never plays any decent teams at home.
