Uniform changes are ridiculous. NCAA needs to set a Uniform code.

I'm glad Oregon isn't trying to recruit middle-aged (and later) men who are fans of traditional uniform powers....their classes would suffer :)
LOL! I think recruiting middle-age men would do your recruiting in, no matter what their uni tastes were... :D

oh, you mean green like the color of the field and white like the colors of the lines on the field? you guys cant dig yourselves out of this one, heh.

God made the color of the grass and I do not think Nike can duplicate that. :)

As for the white lines, have you ever seen a field completely and totally white unless it was snowing?

And Earle, I do not think I could get in a football uniform like we used to wear!:)

Well, it wouldn't happen in the NFL as they regulate the color of the uniforms and the NFL Rule Book specifically states "The surface of the entire Field of Play must be a League-approved shade of green". Oh, and seeing as how the NFL has specifically taken steps to ensure a Boise State like situation does not happen....I'd say there is some validity behind it.

You have to recognize the foresight of the NFL in realizing that "If it can be done, it will be done." IOW, someone will eventually come up with neon pink unis and a matching field. Why not? It might make one point per game difference, and that's certainly worth it. I don't see unis being regulated, but I think restrictions on field/uni colors are just a matter of time...

They already have the restriction on field colors after Eastern Washington went with a red one. Boise got grandfathered in, though.

My first thought when I saw the new Oregon helmets was "Wow, they look like the Village People."

Has anyone noticed the pattern in the W on the Wisconsin helmets? They've got a rose pattern in the red. That is something I kinda like.

Yknow what's funny? This place gets in an uproar if anyone brings up a thread about our uniforms, yet we're six pages into Oregon's uniform. smh

Has anyone brought up the Golden Domer's shiny helmets in previous years? Its not chrome, but still reflects light pretty well, correct?

And to chime in on the subject: I like our classic, traditional uniform, but have NO PROBLEM with other schools changing theirs. Heck, as long as they are not changing every quarter or half... go for it. Its nice for entertainment.

Now why having a sponsorship by Nike is NOT against NCAA rules? Go figure...

Kind of

Consider this...if you play Boise on the blue field and they wear blue helmets, blue jerseys, and blue pants on the blue field, that seems to create an advantage for them. For me, it is all about the principle of things.

Like Michigan State with green jerseys, pants and helmets on a green field or, Oregon or Marshall or....

I hadn't realized that Oregon had figured out a way to bend light upon command so that they could somehow be a distraction to the other team but not to their own players. ;)

Sorry, I'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I can't see a single way that changing the uniform gives any sort of advantage that isn't already in play. The changes have all been stylistic. I've seen no evidence that any change they have made at any point has been anything but stylistic. I think the idea that we should have a rule that a team can't change its uniform is a bit silly. If we want to argue against OUR team changing its uniform, I completely understand, but I see no basis for an argument against someone else doing it.

The football pants do appear to be getting shorter...almost approaching bike short status, lol. I remember when those were "in".

I don't like the Notre Dame changes. When you change the Uniforms so much you loose what College football is really about TRADITION. It changes so much you forget what the team is about as well. Can anyone really remember what Oregon's original uniforms look alike? That is why I don't like it at all. And that is why i love the stance Saban makes.

no, but they included leather helmets. Is that what you want? :)

And people would be complaining the old uniforms look awful:

While I am not really buying into the distraction issue, I will say its entirely possible for something to distract others and not you. Once you become conditioned to something your mind recognizes it ad normal and it isn't a constant distraction. Before I had children if I were at my brothers house I was a nervous wreck from his kids making noise, running through the house, having light sabre fights on the sofa, etc... Now that I have a couple boys I don't even notice all the caos until someone gets hurt. I literally don't notice it unless someone starts to cry or I hear something break. Again, I'm not sold on the distraction theory but it is possible for it to distract others and not you.

I think the Oregon helmets and the uniforms are getting ridiculous. NCAA or the Conferences need to agree on a Uniform code. Like

  • You are only allowed 2 home and 2 away jerseys. as well as helmets
  • The Helmets cannot have glare, like the Rose bowl helmets, it can be a disadvantage.
What say you?

I thank the gub'mint ought to do something bout this!
