I think most of the contributions would be on special teams. Collins, Cooper, Ragland, Geno, Cyrus Jones, Eddie Williams, Yeldon. I'd think Dixon and Belue will probably be the only ones that figure into the starting lineup against Michigan.

I'm leaning towards any of the ones that enrolled early and maybe Griffith.

I was also going to go with Griffith, I do believe we may see a couple of receivers though I am not sure which ones.

I figure quite a few will be on special teams, I would think Collins, Anderson, Lee, Belue, Dixon, Griffith, Yeldon.

Ouch......as deep as we are and possibly playing this many true freshman......man we are good....:)
Most of them will be special teams contributors IMO, but 2 or 3 of them could wind up playing significant roles.

I think we might see some of the new recruits on the defensive line. maybe not starters but in a relief role.

I think you can bet the farm on Dixon at DB and Belue, Eddie Williams, Ragland, and L. Collins at least on special teams. The best athletes will always find their way on the field as true freshman on special teams.

Hard to tell after that. Whomever of Black and Cooper breaks the top 7 at WR will play. Unless Griffin beats out Foster/Shelley for EP, FG, or KO, Anderson whips Dixon or Hubbard at Jack, or Yeldon does something Dee Hart can't, I see a lot of redshirts.

Dixon and Belue aren't freshman - being JUCO players I'd expect them to see the field a lot, most likely as starters.

Yeldon will likely get a good set in the rotation at RB, just like almost all our freshman RB's have since Saban came.

Collins, Ragland and Anderson could crack the special team lineup as starters - we've almost always got some freshman out there.

It's harder to say with the WRs, because sometimes it takes time to get into rhythm with a QB...

Corner is the only area I would see a spot that they would play immediately...and Belue and dixon arent freshmen, theyve had JUCO to build on as well. We also have corners still with the team that will see the majority of PT i think (milliner, etc.)

Remember, we've had 4 number one classes in the past five years...and the other was a top five class. I'd be shocked if any got significant playing time, especially with the talent from the past couple classes waiting for their turn....
Clinton Dix, Dee Hart, Xavier Dickson, Trey Depriest,...and on and on and on...

Lets just say that I would be concerned if we were needing true freshmen to come in and contribute in game one. I would also wonder what happened to those highly touted players development.

Re: Which 2012 Bama signees play versus Michigan?

-- Dixon and Belue are probably expected to compete for PT (at least ST play) since they are both JUCO.
-- Collins gets some game action on ST or in the Dime package in game one.
-- One or two WRs (we have several possibilities here, so it's a crapshoot, but I'd imagine at least one gets in the rotation)
-- Ragland; getting some time in as a sub at LB and ST/ mop up duty
-- One maybe 2 guys we signed to play DT/NT. We have to build depth so whoever stands out in the group will probably get in the rotation just like the guys at WR

The thread was was about which "signees," not which freshmen ;) And like I said, I don't see anybody besides Dixon and Belue cracking the starting lineup (not special teams), at least for the Michigan game. And the only reason those two could is BECAUSE they are JUCO kids, and Coach Saban typically only recruits JUCO guys that can come in and contribute right away.

Re: Which 2012 Bama signees play versus Michigan?

I'd definitely expect Collins, Williams, Jones, Ragland, Dixon, Griffith, and Belue to see some play time. Granted, Carter will help us in WR depth this year, but I still wouldn't be surprised at all to see Black and Cooper getting some PT. Same for Yeldon. Even if Lacey and Hart are both healthy, I think Yeldon's too good to keep off the field.

That's definitely an impressive list when you consider how many other good veteran players we'll have also hitting the field.

Re: Which 2012 Bama signees play versus Michigan?

Leaving off the jucos who are mortal locks to play, I could see a lot of guys seeing the field.

Collins, williams, taylor ragland, duvall, anderson will all play and have a chance at to fight for starting positions or major rotation time for the lb's.

We need a return man, replacing maze, drake, smith, jones will get a look there.

Kurt freitag, yeldon, and dalvin tomlinson are ready to play now, and could break into the rotation, but there is some depth at their positions.

Duvall

Freitag

Collins

Cooper

Ragland

As everyone else has said, both JUCO CB's will see the field either as backups, special teams, and one will take a starting role.
