This acquaintance of mine, "BIG BLUE" we will call him, has repeatedly obnoxiously challenged me to wager 1k on our opening game next year. I happen to know the guy personally, so of course I got the first challenge, then he proceeds to go on our local northern alabama sports radio station, and challenge any alabama fan? He has boasted to me, Denard will have 100 yards rushing, and we will be "outclassed", and out played. Now I'm not a gambler, usually anyways. I would like to know everyones thoughts, as I'm seriously considering taking his money.:BigA:

I have faith in our team but wouldn't put a $1000 on the game. Does the bet also include if Denard has 100 yards rushing? Your friend seems like a cocky guy.

Two questions......
1. Do you trust the guy to pay?
2. Can you afford to lose $1,000?

If the answer to both is yes, then I'd say go for it.

Its tough, we have lost a lot of players, but we have reloaded, and our younger guys have experience. I like that is straight up, but 1 k is a bunch of coin! Good luck on your decision!! Rtr

Personally, I am always reluctant to put my hard-earned money on anything I have no control over. So I wouldn't suggest you do the same. So, that being said, CNS has seven months to figure out how to corral QB Denard. Alabama, while losing some very good Defensive players, still has some very good Defensive players that DO HAVE some game day experience. And even if Denard does have a hundred yards rushing, does he really think that the UM defense will stop Bama's offense enough to win the game? I don't think he's been paying attention. He's pinning his hopes on ONE player? Bama has an entire TEAM that can win a ballgame. I like Bama's chances, but I am biased. I always say, if you don't like losing your money, don't gamble. If you can afford it, if it won't hurt to maybe, possibly, unforeseenly, give it up...Roll Tide, A'ight!:BigA:

Well I hate to tell you to turn down a sure bet but I must. I don't bet on the TIDE for money. I might bet a lunch at a restaurant that my co-workers like but that is rare. So with that stated why not get him to bet you a nice lunch/dinner at one of your favorite places. Plus the good food might help him recover from the outcome :). RTR

Take his money. The only thing you need to ask yourself is, what denominations would you prefer your cash in?

I'm the same way I don't bet , much, and hardly ever in regards to alabama. I tried the lunch thing, and even 100$ , it's either all or nod with him.

agreed, this thread might as well be titled 'should i double my money at my friend's expense'

I'm by nature a betting man and if he's dumb enough to bet straight up, take it! Michigan is a improved team but not even close to the class Alabama is in. Bama wins by 17 to 24 points!

Denard has looked average against average teams throughout his career. Good teams have shut him down completely. He's had great games, but never against a good team.

We're more than a good team, despite the roster turnover.

Tell them to check the bowl stats again vs VT. See if they still want to bet after that. We will beat them by 3 TD's mark it down.
