You are Old School Tuscaloosa if:

Anybody remember the name of the ice cream plant just after you crossed the river into downtown Tuscaloosa (from Northport). We always stopped there. It was great! I think my favorite was grape pineapple.

I was one of those who frequented Sidetracks (or was it The Sidetrack?), Harry's and The Varsity. Heck, my dorm was stumbling distance from The Varsity! I also remember eating at a meat & three place called Mama Jewel's when we couldn't get over to City Cafe for whatever reason.

Bama Bino pizza was a mainstay. I could eat off one of those $5 pizzas for a few meals - very important for the cash-strapped college student back in the day.

Ahh...to be young again...

I lived at the Sidetrack. That was a crazy place. Ever heard of Tony's? They had a comedy show there every Thursday.

Well, if you were a regular between 1988-1990, we were likely in the same room at the same time on more than one occasion. Do you remember that drink they served call The Derailer? Whoooeeeee!!!! It was a red-pink color, served in a large Mason jar, strong as all get-out and cost $5. And it was $5 well spent, let me tell ya!

I don't recall a place called Tony's.

Yes I was there then, still have one of those jars. Depending on what dorm you were in, if you have rode a moped or a Blue Ford Escort means anything we may have a problem:)

If you can still smell the Paper Mills in T-town! That used to be a horrible smell, but not bad enough to enroll at the Barn!

Ha! No, I drove a silver Ford Escort back in the day. My dorm was immediately behind the Sigma Nu and Fiji houses. It was torn down quite a while back and is now a parking lot (last I cared to look).

Ok maybe I got the color wrong:) You have to admit blue silver not that different. HeHe We should compare notes one day for real we may have even spoke. There was quite an interesting crowd there with the regulars.

What was the name of the place that was on Univ Blvd a block or two past Queen City Ave headed downtown, circa mid 70s? Jerome Hopkins used to play piano there .. Johnny Shines was there a couple of times (or so I heard).

The Silver Dollar(a couple of blocks from The Chukker) and the brief - but glorious - run of (Jumpin') Johnny's?

Re: The Cliffs...

They vary in height. There is one when you first walk up the hill that is 8 feet high, as you walk around to the right they got higher. I know the cliff in the bend as you walked around was 15-20 feet high (maybe higher, it has been 15 years or so), then there was this one that you had to jump over the top of some small pine trees that was 30-40 feet high. The tall one was pretty scary since you had to jump over the trees and clear the last 3-4 feet of rock before you got to the water. It was great fun though. There were people everywhere after classes and on the weekends.

Ah that brings back memories.

Re: The Cliffs...

When it was Tuscaloosa High School and not Central High.

The Booth.

Sidetrack (drink or drown Wed I believe and $1.50 Heniken and Schnoffs on Thursday).

Bama Bino's pizza.

Lots of other thinks that have been mentioned.

Re: The Cliffs...

When Tuscaloosa County briefly went dry and we had to drive to Nick's at Nixville for beer. Or you were there when Coach Bryant returned... :D
