We can't know what Namath and Stabler would have done in the exact same situation, but the Manning Academy is a big deal, and it doesn't speak highly of JM that he couldn't behave while he was there.
Not that exact situation, no, but we do know that they did something out of line, but the big difference here is that they were made to account for their mistakes by CPB, their Head Coach, something that will not happen in College Station, as we already know...and you are right, it doesn't speak highly of him at all...not a big surprise, though...

In all honesty, he was probably sent home for drinking-related issues. However, I think that we play into the media misinformation when we believe stories about people because we want to. It seems like there have been a lot of little things with Manziel over the past six months. He has probably made some very bad decisions. However, all of that is hearsay and rumor. I'm going to choose to not assassinate the guy for my assumptions. I'll let him ruin his own reputation at his home field instead of trying to infer what may have happened at an offseason camp.

As the last Heisman winner, he should be a great example of poise, humility, and sportsmanship. Time and time again, these are not the traits we see of him.

Please see discussion of his removed comments regarding "I can't wait to get out of aTm".

The train has left and the tracks are already loose. Stay tuned.

Regardless, my point was basically that everyone is very eager to find faults with him just like they were with Tebow. If people had just been patient, Tebow would have imploded all by himself. Instead, the naysayers helped propel his popularity.
The bad apples out themselves, and not with petty stuff like this. They get arrested multiple times, they fall apart in games, they get busted using PEDs. Manziel will probably fall apart soon, but it hasn't happened yet. I will wait for the real downfall of Manziel.
Just to clarify, feel free to bash him. I am just choosing not to. Yet.

From all reports Manziel is slowly imploding.
One incident may or may not mean much, BUT...
There is a series of minor events. TAMU has worked pretty hard to keep the lid on, BUT, that pot's boiling.
Terrible thing is that 'Johnny Football' seems like he's morphing into 'The Honey Bear'.
Makes me wonder what we aren't being told?

The trophy was named for a man who once ran up a 222-0 score. Hardly an example of poise, humility and sportsmanship.

And there are still two months left before we play them. The way this kid is coming unglued, I wouldn't be surprised to see him wind up in jail or have a mental breakdown. This kid has some serious issues, and if he doesn't get some help, he's in for some terrible times ahead.

I know, I know, he won the Heisman but if they bring him to SEC media days the Sumlin is not as smart a coach as I think he is. This kid is trouble looking for a landing spot.

Not much difference between him & Honey Badger in my view.

But I really hope he can hold it together at least thru September.

With everybody piling on I'm almost starting to have a soft spot for him. If he has another super season but keeps on partying on the side that will really give the sportswriters something to chew on.

I can see it now...He's in New York to collect his second Heisman, with three drop-dead gorgeous girls on his arms. "I'd like to introduce Cindy, she's my weekday girlfriend, and Sue, she's my weekend girlfriend, and this is Mary, she's my special events girlfriend. Everybody's happy I won it again and we are gonna hit the clubs tonight."

Probably that keeping him under control and out of serious trouble is becoming a full time job.
