****Bama vs. CSU Postgame Thread****

It was hard to get a real feel for this game. On one hand, this felt a lot like 2010, where we just assumed we could show up and win.

But when you consider the fact that we were without our top 2 corners, no Steen, no Cooper and a few others, it makes sense that we would no completely dominate the team coached by our former OC.

Just hard to get a handle at this point on exactly how great this team is going to be.

At the end of the day, a win is a win.

I think focus and intensity played a bigger role. It looked like the entire team was sleep walking.

Yeah, on the plays that I saw, AJ actually had time on two straight possessions to make whatever throw he wanted. Under no pressure, he twice threw short passes on 3rd and long, forcing 2 punts. Both receivers were well covered and it was obvious that they would not be able to convert. That had nothing to do with the players that were not in the game.

I by no means intend this to sound as criticism, because I have had more joy from watching this program rise with Coach Saban than I could express.

I think the thing lacking in this game for me was watching the boys have fun. I couldn't put my finger on it until AJ threw a TD and didn't run down the field with his finger in the air in excitement. I did not see apathy, but it just didn't look like they were having fun tonight.

Again, not criticism. Just an observation.

If they play like this against Ole Miss we will no longer be undefeated.

That was a really bad pass by A. J. that got intercepted.

I was happy to see #5 Black get a reception for a TD. Hopefully, he will have many more.

I sure hope everyone is back next week against Ole Miss. Hopefully, the intensity level will be there against Ole Miss.

This was an Ugly win. It should not have been close and that is the closest 31 to 6 victory that I've ever seen Alabama play.

How did anyone let 2 #21's on the field at the same time. I do know Coach Saban was trying to play lots of players very late, but we should have knocked them out by halftime so that we could see more of #6, #23, #21, et al on offense.

Were we playing down to their level or were they playing up to ours? I think we were playing down to their level!

66 yards rushing = turrible

Pass protection mostly weak.

OL still a mess, notwithstanding the good results at A&M.

Converted one third down all night long.

How many times did we complete a 2 or 3 yard pass on 3rd and 5???

LOTS of work to do to get to Pasadena. Or Atlanta for that matter.

Henry was #3 before the season but they changed it to #21 so he could play on special teams with Sunseri. So someone wasn't paying attention. Who was the other #21.

Was this game ugly because we played at such a HIGH INTENSITY level against aTm last week and just didn't have much intensity left in the tank for lowly CSU?

Seems like this same thing happened last year after the LSU game and the intensity level was low for the aTm game.

Very underwhelmed by our performance tonight. But a W is a W and all I hope is that we get through next week with a win and no significant injuries. We have the parts but we need to put them all together before LSU. The good news is that we are nowhere near peaking and maybe tonight's results on offense and defense will strike a cord with the players to keep working to improve.

I thought on AJ's interception, he might have been trying to throw it away and just didn't get enough on it

This is what I thought as well. He was flustered too much and just didn't throw it far enough. But good effort by Bell to try and "defend" the interception.

So looks like there were no major upsets today. Just some teams being a little lackluster. ESPN sure were hoping for an upset weekend.

It wasn't the prettiest game, but a win is a win. This looked like a classic trap game to me, the team was coming off an emotional win and was looking forward to Ole Miss. I'll take it.

You can always tell the fans who did not live during the Bryant years or the Stallings years. Don't be under the delusion that we were a runaway machine back in those glory days. We survived many a game. In 1994, we trailed eight times entering the fourth quarter and were undefeated until the SECCG.

Last year was a bit of anomaly folks. We're not going to score 50 points every game. So my take:

1) The former OC has faced our defense before, so he had a pretty good idea of what he could run.

2) McCarron's timing still a bit off on some plays.

3) Terrible execution on third downs.

4) O-line regressed again.

5) No injuries - always good

6) That was not our full top of the line team out there. Didn't see Amari, Yeldon missed a quarter, and I think Steen was missing, too.

7) We still won by 25. If we'd lost by 25 then you could be upset.

We had a close game with FIU in 2008 and our 35-0 win over WKU last year didn't feel like a win (plus we lost Fowler and White).

This is exactly what I was thinking.
And 1994 is an excellent comparison.
We're going to be just fine, folks.

Brad Edwards pulling a little Saban talk. Trying to tell his Alum to show up next week and beat Ole Miss. He pretty much said, if Alabama is a championship team..they will show up next week and beat Ole miss easily.

I Agree.
