Just got a text from a friend that works at the Bham news. He said that there is a fairly authoritative report on twitter that Saban is going to Texas. It is from a writer from the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. He didn't name his name though. I am not on Twitter so I haven't seen the report.

He said that paper is pretty legit.

That guy is a TCU beat writer, FWIW

BTW, the Forth Worth Star Telegram reporter who tweeted Saban to Texas is a TCU beat writer and has since backtracked his tweet.

like I said, it may not be a popular position to take, but paying a college coach $10 million a year is absurd and my view has nothing to do with return on investment, it has to do with an institution of higher learning paying that much for a coach.
I've tried to avoid sparring with you, regarding some of your comments about Nick and Terry Saban, but would you agree that your mentality on the issue is that he already wields too much power and influence? I don't think you're alone in not being entirely welcoming towards the Saban's approach, but obviously you and I don't view things the same way.

I guess I can understand that in the context of how you might view the University of Alabama as a whole, but for me I'm an Alabama football fan, and then I'm a fan of the University. I think Alabama football has done so many great things for the state, and I personally am fine with Alabama football being the ambassador for the state. I wouldn't want to see Nick Saban paid more than he's worth, but I don't think he should be limited because alumni or the like don't place the same importance on football he does.

I think that's a bit of the issue nagging at Nick Saban to, and he's final run into some people that are saying look, just coach your team and leave us alone.

What a first post! Yes, there's certainly a point at which Bama would give up on a bidding war, but I don't think it'll come to that. Now, if I'm not surprised, I expect Saban to sign a 7 million plus contract with us...

You hear that folks? Back away from the ledge. This is the first day we've opened the bridges back up in Tusc. since the IB ;). Sign the thing!!! I'd hate to have to shut them down again :)

Sometimes I truly hate twitter. It has really made journalists lazy.

FWIW

I consider Tidefans my sole source on all things Bama.
No doubt - there are many sports journalists out ther right now tweeting and re-tweeting without doing a lick of independent research. I would be shocked if there is one single person out there actually investigating this story right now. They are just going to watch it happen with us and then tell us about it afterward as if they were more informed than we are/were. In the meantime, they will keep on with the tweets to keep the story alive and hot in hopes that the climax will be worthy of their buildup.

Just another garbage report out of Texas.

They are all garbage with respect this story. Most of this "press" is the result of a group of Texas fans who are pushing their agenda while having fun at the expense of anyone who is invested in this in any way. They are laughing at the angst that they have created.

Twitter is custom built for mass hysteria. If we had twitter during the Cold War, I would've never left the Bomb Shelter.

Jimmy, who I respect, says he's talked to some folks that know some stuff and he feels Saban stays.

That's brilliant. "Red Dawn" Scared me enough, but if Twatter were in existence then, I'd not have finished school, cuz I"d be too scared to leave my home.

For those who could use a little amusing release, I bring to you the:

2006 Who Will Be The Next Alabama Coach? thread.

You'll see some "usual suspects" in there - and watch as the wind shifts repeatedly.

I'm chuckling at a lot of it.

SO MANY users that posted in that thread are suspended, fewer banned.

If you are inactive for a time does your account get suspended automatically? Pretty odd.

How do you backtrack a tweet? And what kind of REPORTER (not just hack) simply does this?
