Tide Sports Reporting Tony Brown Arrest

Twitter account

@rogerpatmyers: @rollbamaroll Track team party, cops busted in, pepper sprayed Brown in the face over and over... I think a little over zealous reaction

considering he runs track I doubt we can run the crap out of him as punishment. Its probably going to take something a little more creative than that...

Who is rogerpatmyers? I hope this doesn't cause us to lose that track star from Hoover we are after.

And then the cops over charge the suspect/victim to save face. I'll wait until more facts are released. Who was yhe football player who was accused of crimes on the strip, but video footage showed the complete opposite of the police report?

My distrust of police means I'll wait and see before throwing him under the bus.

Seems like coach Saban has a strong rapport with law enforcement and any player that does not identify himself as a player is making a big mistake. If there was some profiling on the stop, telling the officer your status should ensure you at least fair treatment and dissociate yourself from any suspicion (fair or not). I just don't believe the police are harassing our players, it has been so quite after coach opened communications.

I wasn't suggesting players were singled out. Some are assuming it was a traffic stop but was it?

I believe this is much a do about nothing. As was earlier posted, he wasn't dui, didn't kill anyone, no armed robbery or theft and no drugs. This is minor unless we learn something new. Make him sit out the 1st qtr of 1st game.

I didn't mean it to come across that way, just that I disagree that we should assume the police are wrong until vindicated, with the past few years as my evidence.

All players should tell the police they are players, first thing imo. You define who you are, and what you are not, fair or unfair, I just think it would help end further profiling, if that was involved.

I don't know what happened, but it's pretty ridiculous to assume someone did something wrong to get arrested. That is not how things work unfortunately. There have been plenty of people arrested for simply saying something the police officer didn't like, and there have also been innumerable instances of police using excessive force, and then charging the person with resisting arrest. I don't know guilt or innocence at this point, but I'm not a big fan of the abuse of authority and I don't just automatically assume that authority is right.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Way too premature to be suggesting the boy needs an attitude adjustment.

Police officers the world over, just like every other profession, have their fair share of people who simply shouldn't be in that particular job. For all you have to respect them, they have to respect you too.

I'm all for locking this thread until something more reliable than a Twitter post provides more facts of the matter. We're already up to 3 pages of speculation, and believe me our rivals will be doing enough of this for us. Debates about law enforcement would be better off in the appropriate forums. Just my opinion.

If I'm hanging out with friends and cops bust in and pepper spray me in the face, I'm not going to be happy about it.

What's sad is being arrested is not totally erased when proven innocent. It can stay in closed records, be asked in employment applications.........be a part a permanent part of the web archive!

My mother's neighbor called the police over a cat in her yard, a summons on the matter was never mailed, and my mother ended up in the online police records that I found. She received an apology from the mayor himself after it was over and they changed the entire website and haf google and yahoo erase the cache. Bad situation, over a cat in someone's yard? The cat, Zane, now happily lives inside and in his screened in patio, and the Neighbor moved away.

Sounds like he was pulled over for speeding and resisting arrest ... He'll be punished accordingly and possible miss spring practice
Where did this come from? The link says that he was arrested at a party.
But either way, it doesn't sound good. Hasn't been on campus very long at all and already arrested. Why can't a high profile athlete just back off when police are involved. This is not a good time to show your machoism.

Noticed that Franklin is moving all the Penn St. players back on campus, to live in the same housing groups, and you will have to be an upperclassman in good standing to request a pass to live off campus. Sounds like the good old days of Bryant Hall? So he is going back old school in a round about way. Seems like the NCAA believed player's were being segregated from their fellow students or some other goofy reason. Franklin is on to something imo. Smart guy and very good coach.

I'm not going to lie, sometime there could be a misunderstanding between suspect and cops.. ahhh, who am I kidding here. It really does sounds like he didnt do what he was being told to and so.

I'm a retired LEO.
All that is required is to attempt to pull away, and you guessed it. Resisting Arrest.
That's the standard most officers adhere to in the State of Alabama.
The officers will have to present their case in city court.
Additional problem...
These days officers are wired, recorded, and in many jurisdictions video recorded.
If this incident is as was charged, Brown will most likely be found guilty, if this goes to court.

A bigger problem was created when the officers charged Brown.
The problem is that Brown is now on the local officers radar...
Some officers don't forget someone refusing to comply easily.

I do think that Coach Saban will attempt an attitude adjustment on Mr. Brown. Hope it takes.
