There lies the problem with the committee, it's about the best teams now, not accomplishments weeks ago. Who do you want to see in the Superbowl, the two best teams, or the teams that looked best in early October?
I don't disagree with you on what the focus ought to be. Unfortunately though, that's not what the reality of the committee is.

Look, this whole debate over Ole Miss vs Alabama in the committee's ranking reminds me of the 1965 Orange Bowl. Namath swore he crossed the goal line and we therefore won the game. But the officials saw it otherwise and consequently, Texas got the "W". Bryant, in his wisdom, said "If you can't jam it in from there without leaving any doubt, you don't deserve to win." He was right.

Even though I believe we are a better team than Ole Miss, we couldn't "jam it in from there without leaving any doubt". We should have beaten an inferior team on October 4th. But we didn't. Texas deserved the "W" in 1965. Ole Miss deserves to be ranked higher than us. For now. But if we take care of business - if we take care of what we can control, that won't last.

I really couldn't care less what the committee thinks at this point.

Common sense? That's your argument? Bama is 7-1. OM is 7-1. Bama lost to OM. Common sense says that RIGHT NOW OM should be ranked higher. Will this be the case after AU beats them? No. This is potentially is a fluid situation. It will most likely change each week as this plays out & teams lose, win out, and etc. It's only week 8.

Use common sense and logic. It's what educated people do.
Common sense says ask yourself would Ole Miss beat Bama Saturday? Answer that question.

But in reality that is what the committee should be about!

It is just a waste of time for some of you to get emotional about this first poll. Back to reality, if we don't beat LSU, we are history. Then, this young team has to beat a physical MSU team and then Aubarn. I am not so sure we can beat LSU, especially with a patchwork OL. However, "if" we can beat those 3 and the cupcakes we are in!

Will have to research, but I think Tuberville won there. Either way, Auburn blistered them in Baton Rouge. so if Ole Miss is a top 4 team, they should not have lost there last week!
Why does Auburn "blistering" LSU in Baton Rouge in the 1990s matter in 2014? Or do you not understand that LSU lost to Auburn in 2014 in Auburn, Alabama?

The point is LSU got run out of the stadium by Auburn and Miss State. Neither games were close. Yet Ole Miss lost to them last week while Bama throttled A&M and Tennessee.

I'm not surprised that ole miss is ahead of us just wondering how they are in the 4 team playoff. That is my concern with us having to go to Atlanta... But the eyeball test proves ole miss is more deserving than us aside from the a&m game and wvu you have to go to the Tennessee game and our head to head in which they have the edge in those arguements. It's like what Tom cruises character said in a few good men " it's not what I know it's what I can prove" we can't prove that we are clearly better than ole miss at this point

We don't have to prove it now - if Bama wins out Ole Miss can still go 11-1 and Bama will be in the top 4 - probably at #3 behind FSU and Ole Miss. Guess who Bama would play in the 1st round of the playoffs?

I must be on an opponents message board. Can't believe the Bama fans defending Ole Miss ranking over Bama compared to both polls. Like whipped puppy dogs!

If Ole Miss wins out, we are not going to the playoffs no matter what we do. Did you see Oregons ranking? The committee is placing emphasis on conference champions. We will get leap frogged, mark it down!

Yeah that's why I said at this point. We got 4 games to make it or break it.

Common sense says ask yourself would Ole Miss beat Bama Saturday? Answer that.]

The scenario proves nothing. Could Bama beat OM? Sure. But they also might not. Common sense and logic says look at the evidence you have and not some hypothetical scenario you create. It's irrelevant to the situation because Bama and OM aren't going to play tomorrow. Again, it might be different next week. I expect AU to make all this discussion a moot point. But if OM beats the Boogs then they deserve to be right where they are. Let the season play out. No matter what happens if Bama wins out they're in the top 4. This is all that matters.

The one issue I have with the committee is that they are not consistent here. Baylor should be ranked above TCU. And, Arizona should be ranked higher than Oregon. The Ducks shouldn't be ranked higher than 7-8. Considering injuries is absurd. This is a part of football and shouldn't be an excuse to put teams ahead of other teams that beat them.

Top 4 teams princess!!!! we are a top 4 team, we can match up with anyone. This is a bias committee, open your eyes, There is no doubt we would crush Ole Miss if we played Saturday.
