Auburn vs Ole Miss

The injury was very similar to Drake's. OM's grass is very thick and one's cleat can easily get caught and dug in. Hope Treadwell's recovery goes well.

Huh? I thought they had field turf? Not sure if it had anything to do with the playing field, just unfortunate football plays.

I suspected Auburn would win before the game, but not in that kind of bizarro fashion.

The path is now clear to get to the SECCG. It's all part of the process: one play at a time, one quarter at a time, one half at a time, one game at a time, secure the SEC West title, win the SEC championship, and *then* we play in the playoffs.

This game shows that you NEVER give up on a play. Treadwell was just INCHES away from scoring and helping to beat the Barn. The Barn player played it out to the end successfully.

Ole Miss' QB " ""! All he had to do was hang on to the ball near the 2 or 3 yard line. It really looked like his progress was stopped, but and arm from a Barn player came in and it ended up being a fumble!

Both cases show that you can NEVER give up on a play, because good things can happen just inches away from the goal.

The Barn out-scored Ole Miss but Ole Miss has TWO of the toughest losses you can have. They also had several players hurt.

So will the Selection Committee place Ole Miss at 4th in their Playoff Poll this week since they look at injuries and close losses with a microscope? Ole Miss should be the highest ranked 2 loss team and maybe ahead of some one loss teams.

Next weeks ranking: #1 Mittittippi Tate, #2 FSU, #3 the Barn, #4 Oregon, #5 Alabama, #6 TCU

I don't know... When you have your ankle turned like that, you wouldn't be able to focus on securing the ball and all....

I don't blame him in the slightest. I don't think anyone would be able to hang on to the ball in the middle of that.

I feel so bad for the poor guy I can't bring myself to celebrate. Odd feeling after a win.

Go ahead and enjoy it. Ole Miss fans didn't seem too broken up over Kenyan Drake, ya know, with storming the field and tearing down the goal posts and all... ;)

I'm glad the barn won, because it puts our destiny in our hands. We win, we're in. We don't, we're not. Simple.

You do have to wonder when the barn's incredible fortune will run out. Last year, us and UGA. This year, K-state and Ole Miss (so far). How many times will they have miracle plays on their part or miracle mistakes by their opponents, all inside the last 2:00? SMH.

Just goes to show that it's truly a 60 minute game,

Gotta give it to the Barn, a lot of times they just don't quit.

I have never been at a game like this before - on the play where Treadwell scored, they announced he scored and updated the scoreboard accordingly and the place was WILD! Then, word came out that Treadwell was injured, and people were worried, increasingly so when the cart came out, but there was still a sense of celebration as they had the lead with about a minute and half to go. Then they announced they had reviewed, that it was a fumble recovered in the EZ and it was barn ball - the level of frustration / deflation among the fans (exacerbated by the fact they didn't show a single replay in the stadium (presumably because of the injury)) matched the level of celebration just a few minutes before.

I wanted the barn to win - it helps Alabama in the long run as now we control our own destiny - but after that truly a massive swing of emotion for OM fans, I felt bad for them.

And as I said to my dad as we walked back to the truck - THAT was an instant classic. Hopefully we'll see a few more like that as we tour the SEC stadiums together.

The way I see it the Ole Miss season has turned on 2 terrible injuries. I think if Drake doesn't get injured, we win and if Treadwell doesn't get injured they win. It bothers me Auburn benefits from both. Their luck has to run out some time.

I am having some serious spiritual/psychological issues right now, and I am actually starting the process of disassociation, because I fear there is no God, the barn has a pact with the devil, their receivers>Bama's secondary, NM is a better passer than BS, and I'm soon to be forced to clean pig poop out of my yard and off of my truck. That way, if Bama doesn't stomp a mud hole in their unbelievably lucky butts, I won't have to go psycho. I can just dump the collected pig poop on vehicles bearing barner logos.

I think that, sometimes, staying on a play too long can work against a player and team. Most of our fumbles have come from trying too hard at the end of the play. It could be argued that's what happened with Wallace last night.

On the injury issue with the SC, my assumption was that it could either work for you or against you. They might consider that we would have beaten OM with Drake or OM could have won last if Treadwell hadn't gotten hurt. OTOH, it could hurt, if it's season-ending. IOW, they have to consider Bama sans Drake and OM sans Treadwell. It's obvious that neither team is the same, going forward. With a temporary injury, it seems to me that they could excuse a loss and raise the team's rating, if the injured player is to return...
