I don't like the committee, and ranking an undefeated team at #3 is part of that equation. Granted, the BCS would have FSU at #2, but that's largely due to Alabama's ridiculously high SoS. This does match up with my contention that if Alabama won out, no matter what, they were in. I'd still prefer Ole Miss to be undefeated (the injuries really took them out of the equation), and that way Alabama could avoid the SECCG, but as it stands Alabama has a tough path ahead that will pad their SoS plenty. Hard to imagine them not being top seed if they win out, based on how the committee is doing things.

Of course, we might want to cheer for Ole Miss, because I'm not that into the idea of playing Miss. State again.

FWIW, I think there are a few teams in the top 25 that LSU and Ark could easily handle.

Maybe Georgia Tech and Clemson. Beyond that they are not built to impress this year.

I like this. As the new number 1, the target is on your backs again. It's on FSU's too, being the defending national champion. While Oregon stays at 2, not moving up in a bye week and flying under the radar. Still with something left to prove to shut the critics up. Less chance for ego stoking and complacency to set in. Also, hopefully tOSU is left out of the playoffs.​

Quacker, this is Alabama. The last year they were not ranked #1 during the season was 2007. The process doesn't allow rankings to be a factor in your preparation. Just run the next drill, watch the next game film , dominate the next play.

Working under the assumption of Alabama winning out, MSU won't play the final weekend of the season.

Ohio State should play for the B1G title.
FSU will play for the ACC title.
TCU and Baylor will each have a Big 12 game.

MSU will suffer from not playing while its competitors are playing.

FWIW, after the conference championship games are played, I think OSU jumps into the 4. My belief is the final will be Bama, Ducks, Criminals, Buckeyes.

Playing the Criminoles in the first round of the playoffs and Alabama in the championship is the best outcome imaginable.

Way....I think that there is no way they are going to select a team that doesn't win the conference. They seem to be making decisions one week at a time. Baylor has an extra bye week so they get jumped. MS will be sitting at home watching TV on Championship Saturday when everyone will be watching Bama v East... Baylor v K-State for the big twelve....etc. OS v Wiss..... After that weekend they will not select Mississippi State over other one losers.. No way. IMO

I disagree. If the top four and OSU win out, OSU will get the fourth spot. If there's a clear winner (based on record) in the Big 12/10, I think they'd jump MSU, too. I think the commitee will fall back on conference championships in the end.

Ole Miss is top 10 (8). I think MSU beating them should trump an OSU championship win.
