Hoiberg is pretty much impossible because he grew up in Ames and played at Iowa State for 4 years.
I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Grant will be fired. We're still in the running for a NCAA tourney bid IF we can go on a run to finish out the season and finish in the top 4-5 of the SEC. If we are in the market for a new coach then RIGHT NOW I would be in favor of Howland. I'm not in favor of the up-and-coming coaches because while some are the real deal, many are not. I'd prefer a veteran, proven coach which is why I like Howland AT THIS MOMENT (could change at the end of the season depending on who is available). There is another name that I won't mention because it would get me banned from this board but he is a former SEC coach that was fairly successful. No, not Gottfried or Wimp or Sonny. He is currently an assistant coach is all I will say.
