I come in peace

Welcome! What are the thoughts from your side of the world? I think most people here believe that Michigan St is basically a poor man's version of Alabama, perhaps with a better QB. Is that unfair?

Pretty accurate - MD (like Saban) believes games are won in the trenches. Our OL (finally healthy) I feel in one of the best in the nation. Our DL is pretty darn good, too.

Yikes - at least four. But take it easy on Cook

We'll try.

Just out of curiosity, why do you hate Auburn? Not that I'm complaining, just that I'm surprised a Spartan would have any thoughts one way or the other.

Regarding the Citrus Bowl, I always thought we were the beneficiaries of MSU not caring. If I remember right, you tied for the BIG, but got jobbed out of the Rose Bowl by some inane tie-breaker despite the fact you beat the team that did go, and you had the same overall record. You ended up in Orlando against a 3-loss Alabama team, and frankly just didn't care any more.

Kind of like when we lost to Utah in the Sugar Bowl after losing the 2008 SECCG -- after being in the hunt for the NC until the 4th quarter of that game, it was hard to get excited about the Utes, and our play showed it.

MSU absolutely cared about that game. It was more of a measuring stick on how far we still needed to come. I think we caught Alabama at the wrong place/wrong time. You were a 1 loss team with 3 losses.

Let's not bring that game up anymore - I still have nightmares over it : )

We're not LSU dumb. We'll keep a RB in the backfield for protection

Well to be fair, that's only 4 rushers. The RB only went out for a pass after he didn't see an additional blitzer.

Be warned, though. Our guys like to play games when they start sacking the QB.

What's the prognosis on Cook? Everyone think he'll be 100 percent?

Hope so - I knew he was in trouble immediately when in went down in the Maryland game. Shoulders are very tricky and the only thing that works is time off to heal and rest. My oldest (Jr in HS) hurt his shoulder during the summer in a 7v7 game and rehab didn't work. Ended up getting surgery two weeks before the season started and was on the IR the whole year.

Cook's one tough SOB though - good kid, too

I wish we had more participation from football savy folks from other schools, minus LSU lol. We have three that really stand out, and I don't have to say their names. Knowledge of the game, ability to speak without bias, and handle those with bias makes for interesting commentary.

Welcome!
