Stats/Storylines the Have Gotten Lost in the Coverage from Last Night

What I want to know is the referee's name who assigned himself as Watson's personal valet last night. It seemed every time Watson got knocked down that ref was running over there to help him up. I don't think I have ever seen that before. I know it is minor and I can understand once but I never saw him helping Jake up. Maybe he did; I don't know.

From what I understand, Cam Newton has mentored Watson. The numerous times that I watched Watson sit on the ground after a play and wait for someone to help him up, all I could think of his how Cam does the exact same thing.

If they had put it on ABC, you know like ESPN on ABC, would that have affected the ratings?

I have to think that would have helped. I know of at least one example, my parents, who could not watch the game because they do not have cable tv nor internet so they had to listen to the radio broadcast. I assume ESPN does this to justify their absurdly high fees they charge the cable companies to carry their channels.

5) Every recruiting class that Saban has signed has won a NC.

Thats impressive and speaks volumes about the program ... great recruiting tool imo

#8 ought to speak VOLUMES about how much the viewing public is tired of the commentators. I wonder what would happen if CBS were to link the video with the respective team's broadcast teams.

Most people aren't streaming the game because they're tired of the commentators. They're streaming the game because they're cutting the cord from cable.

Coach Saban's teams have won the NC in 5 of the last 11 seasons where he's been coaching in college.

Shamelessly stolen from ESPN stats:

Jake Coker completed 7-of-9 passes for a career-high 211 yards and a touchdown after a play action Monday, including a 63-yard completion to O.J. Howard in the Crimson Tide's last pass play of the game that set up their final touchdown.

Jake Coker threw for a career-high 335 yards Monday, besting his previous high of 286 yards in the national semifinal against Michigan State. His 253 passing yards in the second half would have been his third-highest total for a game in his career.Coker averaged 21.1 yards per attempt in the second half, highest for any quarterback in any half in the FBS this season (min. 10 att).

With the win, Bama becomes just the third FBS program with 50 wins over 4 years.

Boise State: 50-3 from 2008-2011 (3 conference titles & No national championships)
Ohio State: 50-4 from 2012-2015 (1 conference title & 1 national championship)
Alabama: 50-6 from 2012-2015 (3 conference titles & 2 national championships)

You need to find the strength of schedule to add to that list. :0)

Do you remember when this was? I'd like to check it out.

It was in the first half and I wasn't sure they had an extra down but we were all saying "This should be Third Down". I know I heard the ref say, "Repeat 2nd Down" & they did and when that play was over they still had Second down. I've been trying to rewatch the game...just haven't had time. I thought the ref just misspoke and it was repeat First Down....
