True. IMO, the worst ever was the push poll asking voters if they'd be less likely to vote for McCain if they knew he had an illegitimate black child.
I'd go with the anonymous fliers in 1994 suggesting that a democratic candidate for the AL Supreme Court was a pedophile.

Both were Rove specials, unsurprisingly.

Trump has done things unconventionally this entire time. By keeping Ted in as a Wednesday speaker, he has ensured that people will be talking about the convention today and tune
in tonight to see more drama....when he is the speaker. The ultimate self-promoter. Perhaps Ted's speech bomb was his plan. I know it will keep me watching tonight.
this has been the ultimate un-convention

Who? The same people who already hate him?

(And I'm NOT denying Cruz royally screwed himself here - but he was never going to be the nominee anyway. Not now, not ever. And this constant comparison of Cruz with Ronald Reagan makes me nauseous. By the time Reagan ran for President when he had any sort of chance (1976), he'd been governor of California for eight years, a union head, a GE spokesperson, an Army Reserve officer, and a successful movie actor if not exactly Clark Gable.....oh, and a Democrat, too. Cruz has been an attorney and done a bunch of appointed jobs and has yet to serve a full term as Senator.......oh, and has anyone yet heard of the term 'Cruz Democrats?')

"many of these people are willingly buying into Manafort’s stagecraft. The Trump team knew about the speech beforehand. The outrage on the floor may have ended up being genuine, but it started out manufactured. I understand that Chris Christie will spew whatever fake outrage his masters instruct, like a trained seal barking for another herring. But I don’t see why so many supposedly seasoned political observers are volunteering for service."

I'm not as much of an expert as most on here with respect to politics. So far with the exception of the mistake with Melania's speech...I think the convention has been awesome!

It makes a YUGE difference if you watch it on CSPAN. MUCH better not to have the talking heads blathering at you constantly with their spin and narratives.

IMHO, the quality and quantity of speakers has been very good!

One example is Laura Ingraham last night...she's simply AMAZING!!!

(hint: go to the 3:30 point...priceless!)

If you go to the end, when they're trying to obscure it, and look at the big screen, you can see her closing NAZI salute, a criminal offense in most of Europe, where it originated...

Someone on NPR this morning said that if Trump gets blown out, then all of this will be forgotten.

But if Trump loses a close election, Cruz will be lucky if he only gets hung in effigy.

And apparently, the "vote your conscience" passage was not in the advance copy given to the press. Make of that what you will.
Many said Reagan was through when he refused to endorse Gerald Ford. The man who manipulated the Mississippi delegation that gave the nomination to Ford over Reagan and orchestrated that convention show was none other than Paul Manafort, the ultimate Washington insider. But Trump is different. We will see. Even though I probably agree Cruz is through, it is a sad commentary on the country and it probably means the GOP is done too. It's Trump's Party now.

What I will never understand..................

Why folks (i.e. demonrats) who HATE the repubicans watch that staged nonsense. So they have more reason to hate them? Do they really need any more?

No, I have not, and will not, watch one second of that phony stage production. It is as authentic as anything the WWE (or whatever it now is) has ever staged.

The "average" voter does not watch that. They wait until the last minute to decide, and usually let some truly valuable source, like Entertainment Tonight, tell them how to vote.

As for the dust-up, over the rules..................

Contrary to what Trumpty Dumpty, and his spin-meisters claimed, there was never going to be a vote about releasing the delegates. It was all about resetting the rules (you know, the ones Mittens Romney changed, to screw over malcontents like Rand Paul), back to the way they were, like back in 2008. (And maybe some improvements.) Instead, the RINOs told the Trumpkins the malcontents were just trying to release the delegates (total BS), and conned them into squashing that movement.

The ironic part................

The rules they adopted, with the help of the Trumpkins, actually give more power to the RNC, along with Wash-and-rinse Prius, and less to the State parties. Which means it will be harder, in future years, for outsiders to have any chance of success. The Trumpkins actually made the RINO establishment stronger (you know.........the same people Trumpty Dumpty said were going to be out of a job), and in firm control of the works.

So, having successfully engineered a hostile take-over, of the repubican party, by a life-long demonrat, the same schmuck now has given The Establishment "dictatorial" control, of the party.

Good job, Trumpty Dumpty!

And before someone says Cruz has done more to elect Hitlery Rotten Clinton...............

Trumpty Dumpty is capable of doing that all by himself. He will end up doing more to help her campaign than she will. (She belongs in jail, but that is another story for another time.

And, no, I will not be watching the demonrats Derp-a-thon. Four solid days of trotting out "victims", so they can remind us how horrible America is, and why we need to let them keep on ruining it.
