Guess you don't understand the point of a message board then. Nobody hear started a rumor. Just a discussion about the information that's out there. What exactly is the problem?

I also have some antler dust for sale to help keep your head out of the dirt. Only $98.50/oz!!! (in jest brother!)

Let's not buy everything people sell. It appears there is a lot of drama being made here and abroad.....no substantive evidence yet that he won't be here through the playoffs.

I think a lot of us would prefer to not have the distractions, or for this board to not be the place where rumors flourish. We just won the SEC, and have a chance to be the first 15-0 college team, and the hens are clucking at shadows.

No, we're just discussing a realistic possibility. If you don't have anything to add you can always not open this particular thread. Mods already said they aren't closing the thread..

They ((Saban and Kiff) also said there is a possibility he could be here another season. He also said he would be here throughout the playoffs.

People here need to chill.

Listen to me. The staff here doesn't deal in rumors, as most who pay attention over the years know and accept. Apparently you don't and you are free to read elsewhere, if you wish. Of course there's a chance CLK could be here next season, but that chance is less than 5% at this point. As has been pointed out above, this is a matter of national discussion and Kiffin has publicly acknowledged applying for the Houston job as have they confirmed. I'm getting a little tired of people coming on here and moaning and complaining about this thread's existence. The topic is everywhere and it is not rumor. You don't like the thread? Don't read it. Don't come on and demand that it be deleted or locked because it's not happening...

I'm not calling for discussion to be shut down. I was explaining the reaction you didn't seem to understand.
I understand perfectly that many would like to stick heads in the sand and pretend that reality is not out there and shouldn't be discussed. Got it. Now, give it a rest, OK? You don't need to repeat your attitude over and over...

Look Earle, i totally understand your frustration (and i respect your opinion). However, i have not seen any tangible evidence here or elsewhere that substantiates at this point in time that he won't be with us throughout the playoffs. Especially if he has yet to interview for any positions to date.

I'm not trying to shut down a discussion. I just don't see anything tangible yet showing that he won't be here in January.

I think Coach Saban wants to help Lane get a HC gig. He said such in the post game interview today. He said Lane wanted to be a HC again & he wanted the same thing for him. All of it would be discussed over the next few weeks. There may be multiple motivating factors:
1) Saban wants Lane to move on for several reasons including his shenanigans off the field (which has been discussed here).
2) It looks good for Saban to rehabilitate Lane's image & help him get a HC job. Time for Lane to move on and maybe promote Sark.

I'm sure there are weaknesses with this position but just how I see the situation as it has unfolded to this point. I'm sure it could go in a few different directions.

And you won't see it here. Put out your fleece and I can't promise whether it will be wet in the morning or not. I can't help that you don't see anything "tangible," other than what I've said. You've registered your attitude. I understand. All understand. Now, quit complaining about the existence of this discussion. By that, I mean cease the repetitive replies, OK?

Look I don't post alot, but I read daily, and I can tell you I have found that when Earle says something you can bet there is something backing it up. This website is my go to for Bama news and info, and it hasn't let me down yet. You should listen up when he says something. If he and mods are allowing it then it has legs, and ignoring it isn't really smart.

Re: Why Lane Kiffin isn't a slam dunk to get a HC job (all Kiffin posts here, please)

Occasionally, Earle says some things and there isn't exactly public knowledge on the matter. So you have to take it on trust of the source and you're often rewarded for listening. This is so different it is night and day. Everyone who follows college football knows he's interviewing in Houston and likely not going to be here next year even if he doesn't get that job.

Not sure if it is posted in the prior 19 pages, but I think I have Kiffin to LSU figured out. At some point in the not too distant future, Coach O will get fired.....too much of an uphill battle to win enough games in the sec west to survive. That's when Kiffin will get his chance as the interim coach, and get the same opporttnity O did to prove he's the long term answer at easily one of the top 10 coaching jobs in college football. Not a bad back-up plan, if he doesn't get the Houston or Oregon jobs.

I don't think LSU would hire Orgeron with the hope of getting his eventual replacement as a coordinator.

I don't think they hired CEO as interim with the plan of making him permanent either...

Re: Why Lane Kiffin isn't a slam dunk to get a HC job (all Kiffin posts here, please)

I don't think LSU had a plan at all besides "land Jimbo Fisher" and they clearly had no real chance at Tom Herman who likely went to Houston to put himself in position to take a Big-12 job in Texas (preferably at UT-Austin if Charlie Strong flopped). They got played like a fiddle by Jimmy Sexton two years in a row. Fisher wanted more guarantees about assistant salary pool at FSU in '15; LSU boosters secured that for him. Fisher wanted more money for himself in '16; LSU boosters secured that for him.

I don't care what their AD and mouthpieces say. They didn't want to end up with Coach O but really started playing him up when they likely realized that Texas was getting Herman and Sexton was playing them with Fisher. I don't think they're getting Kiffin either because I'm pretty sure he's about to be announced as the Houston HC sometime this upcoming week. So their all-star staff with LSU fan avatar as CEO dreams are not going to turn out like they hoped either.

Re: Why Lane Kiffin isn't a slam dunk to get a head coaching job

There are coaches with worse reputations that currently have power 5 jobs. Not naming any names...

^^^ cough^^^ petrino and leach^^^

Those coaches have won and sustained programs before. Kiffin has not.

Re: Why Lane Kiffin isn't a slam dunk to get a head coaching job

Lane Kiffin says his season at Alabama 'isn't over' after SEC title

ATLANTA -- Lane Kiffin said he wants to stay on as Alabama's offensive coordinator through the playoff, regardless of whether he accepts another coaching position elsewhere.

Kiffin, in his third season at Alabama, is reportedly in the running to become LSU's next offensive coordinator. Sources also told ESPN's Brett McMurphy that Kiffin will interview on Sunday for Houston's head-coaching vacancy.

Kiffin said he wasn't worried about the question of whether he wanted to be a head coach again. Asked whether he sees any circumstance in which he would be at Alabama for another season, Kiffin said, "Yeah, I sure do."

"I'm happy to be here," he said after No. 1 Alabama's 54-16 victory over Florida on Saturday in the SEC championship game. "Coach [Nick] Saban and I talked this week about what a great experience it's been. ... We'll keep going from here. You know this season isn't over.

"People talk about next year, but we have a lot of work to do."
