Re: Kiffin's future...

Why is he leaving? Is that a done deal? Is it his decision or someone else's? Is is possible he gets another contract to stay?

There's a lot in this thread that pretty much elaborates on all of those questions. I think just a few pages back will get you caught up.

How about because both he and Saban want it? Now whether they get trapped together for another year is a question yet to be answered...

Re: Kiffin's future...

Kiffin is a great offensive mind and I appreciate some of the changes in scheme he's brought here. BUT I have to wonder that if the relationship is strictly professional and was actually near it's end in the past off-season that maybe we're playing a risky game to extend it one more year. Different group of players and leaders, maybe it becomes divisive instead of competitive. I don't know but it is something to consider.

I don't understand how that they could be trapped together unless Coach wanted it to happen. I wouldn't think that Coach would have a hard time finding a replacement.

Tide-Hsv I am beginning to think you need to just copy and paste your statements to keep from getting carpal tunnel from saying the same thing on different pages. [emoji3]

Earle needs to make a new thread that is worth sticking at the top of the page... and have everyone read it. " Kiffin is gone. Stop coming up with different reason to why he may stay at Alabama"

Re: Kiffin's future...

I do think the pros would be a better move for him if it's an OC position. The NCAA not snooping around, and alot less concern about personal stuff as long as it doesn't affect on field performance, and it hasn't seemed to in my eyes. I wish him well anywhere he goes outside of LSU. I can't wish that crew well crossing the street.

But the pros ain't hiring right now. He can't just say "I'm going to be the Bills OC starting now"

South Florida hiring Strong...I think he'll do well there.

Yea he has recruited Florida very well so he should do good.

Re: Kiffin's future...

Going with Earle`s assertion that Kiffin is gone, period, end of story, it`s beginning to look like it`s LSU or bust for him. If it`s not LSU, and if he`s indeed gone, it looks like it could possibly devolve into CNS just simply letting him go with a " Good luck with your problem ".

Re: Kiffin's future...

Kiffin is too good at his job to not land on his feet if Alabama decides not to renew. I think the understanding all along that he was going to leave after this season, so he's got some fallback plans.

Actually, the understanding after the unexpected extension was that he wanted to take a year off and work on family matters. That was true even up to a fairly short period ago, before these openings appeared. I really think it's his best option, myself. The market next year may be more favorable. Also, it's a mature thing to do and probably needed. Also, with regard to my "trapped" remark above, it was really too strong. He's still here because Saban went from being really, really angry at him, over indiscretions much more serious than bar-cruising, to feeling sorry for him and listening to appeals from very interested third parties. I honestly don't think Saban has the same degree of anger right now. Will he have enough sympathy to give him another year? I still think it's remote, but, as I said before, it's not impossible. We've done very well with a difficult situation this year. I'm afraid that his hanging around for another year will prove to be a distraction next season. For that reason, as I've said a dozen times, I think his moving on is best for all parties...

Re: Kiffin's future...

Earl, appreciate the news you can give us. Right now with finals going on, I don't think it will effect the team unless something happens that drags his into preparing for the game.

Re: Kiffin's future...

I'm with Earle on this: He needs to take a year off and lay low. He can be a " consultant " for Oregon, USF, Texas, Houston, whoever... and that could help him to stay visible. I honestly think We'll see interesting news between now and tuesday.

This makes me wonder if CLK suffers from Satyriasis. I'm not even trying to joke around either. Like a serious medical mental condition causing an addiction he can't control. It's closely related to BPD and OCD tendencies but acted out in 'different means'. Just food for thought. That's the only way I could see CNS feeling empathy for Lane's actions.

This takes the discussion to a whole new level.
