Strange. But if the police did not press charges, why suspend them?

'67, I know next to nothing about this case ... But just because police didn't press charges doesn't mean a university has to condone the behavior involved. The protest by the Missouri players -- and how it was handled by the school -- appears to have opened a door.

Without knowing all the facts it's impossible to judge these actions. Anything else I would have to say regarding Title IX would get this kicked to NS.
The article below the one posted said NIU could replace Minnesota in the bowl. Coincidentally, the only blip of relevance either team has had in the last 50 years was beating Alabama in the early 2000's.

That is what my generation did. We "got over" our little unfairness snits. Today we protest and boycott.
No, you didn't. No generation in American history ha just taken it. That is one of the things that really separates us as a society. We don't just take what we are handed - ever.

As for this incident - for now I will trust that the players know more about this than I do and that they are doing this for a reason. I just hope that if that is true, that they will tell their story. Otherwise they will be painted with the same brush as the nitwits from Mizzou.

I think your comments are very much on point. That's the thing about the right to protest and free speech - it cuts both ways. You have the right to do it, but it doesn't mean there aren't consequences. That's true even if you're in the right, but if it turns out to be misguided or just "fit throwing", these guys will be judged quite harshly. If they are in the right, hopefully the school does the right thing and moves quickly to resolve it.

I tend to share your outlook, that hopefully these guys know a lot more about the situation and that something is truly rotten in the state of Denmark. On the other hand, IF (big IF) there really is something to the incident, I couldn't blame the school for taking the action that they did. Imagine that these guys played in the bowl game and it comes out after the fact that they really did something egregious and the school knew about it but sat on the info and let them play. The school would be completely eviscerated and rightfully so. I hope for the sake of all involved that the whole thing is untrue. We just don't have enough details yet to say which party is justified at this point.

I don't know the whole story, but unless something is MASSIVELY wrong, were I the coach / AD, I'd pull the scholarship of every player who chose to boycott.

Hard to have a strong opinion on this without knowing the facts of the case... I'm sure the truth will come out.
