No, you didn't. No generation in American history ha just taken it. That is one of the things that really separates us as a society. We don't just take what we are handed - ever.
As for this incident - for now I will trust that the players know more about this than I do and that they are doing this for a reason. I just hope that if that is true, that they will tell their story. Otherwise they will be painted with the same brush as the nitwits from Mizzou.
I think your comments are very much on point. That's the thing about the right to protest and free speech - it cuts both ways. You have the right to do it, but it doesn't mean there aren't consequences. That's true even if you're in the right, but if it turns out to be misguided or just "fit throwing", these guys will be judged quite harshly. If they are in the right, hopefully the school does the right thing and moves quickly to resolve it.
I tend to share your outlook, that hopefully these guys know a lot more about the situation and that something is truly rotten in the state of Denmark. On the other hand, IF (big IF) there really is something to the incident, I couldn't blame the school for taking the action that they did. Imagine that these guys played in the bowl game and it comes out after the fact that they really did something egregious and the school knew about it but sat on the info and let them play. The school would be completely eviscerated and rightfully so. I hope for the sake of all involved that the whole thing is untrue. We just don't have enough details yet to say which party is justified at this point.
