We need to break offensive tendencies today

I think we come out and show Washington several new wrinkles that nobody has seen all season long in the first half. I think that if we punch UDUB in the mouth early and remind them who they are playing, this game will snowball quick.

I'm thinking we lineup and oldschool Bama them on offense. Ground and pound all day.

I completely agree and wouldn't be surprised if we do.

That's what we did against LSU in the 2011 rematch.

In this case, it would mean less sweep type runs and more between the tackles. As well as taking a deep shot or two early on.

I just feel like its the formula to easily beat UDUB. UDUB will be getting several quick 3 and outs in this game and their defense will be back on the field fast. I think we need to take advantage of that and wear them out with body blows the entire game. If we end up doing this, I can easily see us winning something like 31-10 or so. I just don't want to get into a shootout and come out trying to get cute by throwing haymakers early on that might or might not work.

I remember us starting with a lot of quick plays against Missouri in the SECCG 2 years ago and completely caught them off guard. Easy 7 points.

I'm hoping for more emphasis on the power running game and less side to side stuff. Yea, I understand why Kiffin's calls the jet sweeps and stuff but I don't think those plays will work at all or set up plays later in the game in the playoffs. These teams are to good to spend a half setting something up..

I look for more throwing medium over the middle, which we haven't done all season. One pro scout said of Hurts "I don't think they believe he can see between the hash marks"...

In my opinion, Bo Scarbrough is going to be the offensive MVP in this game.

It'd be great if he is... total beast mode.

I can't stand these "experts." Is that what they do now, nitpick true freshmen?

He wasn't talking about Hurts so much as he was criticizing the calls they were giving him. I understood at first, because that can be INT City. However, we've needed it at times, when a quick slant to OJ would have really helped. I would hope that the whole field would have opened up for him by now...

I still think we will have to use the outside game to loosen up the middle. UDUB is pretty solid up the middle so will be looking to stuff the early runs between the tackles.

Does anyone think Kiffin may call plays a bit differently today since he landed a HC job? I felt sometimes Kiffin was a bit too cute in play calling to perhaps try and impress other schools to hire him. Now that he got his job does anyone think we may see more ABC football today?

From what I've read they have, as we used to, sort of a heavy DL unit and a more mobile one. I think that, if they put their bigger guys in on a short yardage situation, then we'll go wide. In fact, I think we'll go wide, like normal, early to test the mobility of their LBs...

Yeah, it would be nice if we could just run it down their throats, and I hope we can in the second half, but we will probably show them that they have to defend the whole field first.

Seems to me Bama almost always starts out slow on both sides of the ball. If you remember just the last game they played a Florida went right down the field and scored 7. Florida offense put some formations that our guys had not seen on tape and confused Bama's defense. After a series or two we made adjustments and from that point on the defense was locked in. I would not be surprised if the game today starts much the same way.
