Hahahahahaha. aTm. Hahahaha.

The best part is, they had over 300yds rushing, UCLA never even slowed them down running the ball. They could have easily run time off the clock, but no, Sumlin has to be all big and bad, throwing the ball all over the field like he is behind. Instead, its 3rd& 3 in the redzone in the 4th qtr, freshman QB takes a 15yd sack. UNDER 3 MIN LEFT, throwing the football instead of running. Lol. Classic aTm.

I went to TexAgs and didn't bother opening anything. Just the titles were hilarious.
In a thread with the title, "At least there's some positives about tonight"

To which someone responded, "Plenty of free time on Saturdays for the rest of the year."

I feel for them. That was a epic defensive collapse.

Whoa Nellie. I hit the sack early in the 3rd quarter with TAMU up 24. Now I read where they came back from 44-10 to win by one point. Sumlin is obviously in deeper do-do than before. Did John Chavis miss the bus to Pasadena? :conf2:

I'm gonna put these two posts from this same thread together and just let your mind wander.....

1)
Kevin Sumlin should be fired for the worst clock management and game playing for the fourth quarter! With a true freshman QB and a 27 point lead he continues running a fast offense even when his D is gassed because they can't stop UCLA! Then, with 3 min on the clock and the ball UCLA calls timeout leaving just one and they have a 2nd and long 7 or short 8 and he tries to throw the ball which falls incomplete giving UCLA an extra 40 seconds and then takes a sack on 3rd down. He then is doing okay when they pressure Rosen and on 3rd and 8 they don't blitz giving up a 1st and then a 4th and 6 he lets a flair to a RB go for a 1st. HORRIBLE COACHING!!!

I don't believe he'll be fired until the end of the season. I think it'll be done with an air of class, unspoken bbutthe ccountdown has begin.

Could be crazy wrong, I dunno.

Unfortunately the way the business works requires terminating the guy early instead of letting him finish because it allows the school to freely shop for the replacement.

It is unconscionable that did not even garner a review

So you honestly think refs should take into account momentum when making judgment calls?
Momentum shouldn't have anything to do with the application of rules, no.

But it was a first down play so all that really would have happened - let's be honest - is a delay in UCLA winning.

I don't disagree with you at all as far as what happened or the rules - I'm just saying that any Aggie fan we hear two years down the line pulling the old "he didn't catch the ball" nonsense is an utter buffoon.

I was thinking the same thing. After the turnovers we had the ball near the goal line and tried to pass unsuccessfully. I think it was either the previous series or the next series when we had 3 and 3 in an area of the field where we would have gone for it on 4th, so essentially two downs to get three yards, and we passed unsuccessfully. Now, I get that we need to be able to pass the ball much, much more effectively than we have for the last five or six games, but it was clear that we weren't going to look great passing the other night. I thought we had the game wrapped up with another few first downs and a score. That is what I was thinking at the time, but I was glad to see that the pass plays we called had guys open if we had been able to protect and/or find the receivers. Hopefully, we get the bugs worked out and get this offense rolling.
The A&M situation? I have no words except that I remember how gut-wrenching it can be to lose big leads and see my team out coached again and again between Stallings and Saban. Before I went to sleep last night, I started to make a comment about Sumlin blowing his security before the season ended, but it seems he blew it even before the game ended. I'll now say Mora will probably blow his security before the season ends because I doubt either one of them are coaching their teams in a bowl game. In the world they live in, though, they'll still be laughing all the way to the bank.

But when you had the game in hand, you ran the ball.

I must confess to being wrong. Badly.

Four years ago, I thought Sumlin had the raw material, personality, and all that stuff to follow Saban here at Alabama. Learn your job, make your mistakes as a coach early, come to Alabama and win - the first black head coach of our school.

I was WAY wrong on this - and last night was just the final proof if any were needed. He has literally done nothing as a head coach there. Like Charlie Weiss in 2005, he got incredible mileage out of ONE GAME - and at least in Sumlin's case he won ON THE ROAD in T-Town (Weiss lost to USC at home).

ATM catches Alabama in the afterglow of a tough win in Red Stick, tears out to a 20-0 lead.....and even then only wins because Nuss' play calling was worse than Shanahan's in the Super Bowl last year. Seriously - without that singular win in 2012 (which won JF2 the Hype-man Trophy).....I don't think he's even there now.

His October to end of season record since 2013? Try 17-18, and virtually all of those wins have been against the Vandys and UTSAs of the world. And even in the wins - like Duke in the bowl game with the great comeback - they didn't really play all that well.

He's gone and he should be.

That being said - I'm not surprised by the quote jthomas66 put up from the Ags guy on FB. TYPICAL way of "let me show my buddies how much clout I have, I'm a bad dude!" That manhood nonsense is so typical around here and just as phony.

Funny.

I honestly think someone like Chip Kelly or Helfrich will be their next coach, but I think Miles is probably the best they can get because their problem is that they wont stop trying to be a Big XII team. Miles would probably coach maybe 7 years, but he could set the groundworks to being better in the SEC. IMO

Honest question - what's the difference between a typical B12 team and a typical P12 team?

Both generally play flashy offense and little defense.

Chip Kelly at A&M is interesting, though I suspect they'd end up getting hammered by the NCAA.

Big XII defenses are geared towards stopping the pass, Pac 12 is generally geared around the run. The problem is neither are good suggestions because a balanced team will destroy both. PAC 12 teams other than USC, UCLA, Washington, and Stanford are generally geared to stop the Oregon like offenses. I honestly cant think of a great defense in the Big XII outside of Oklahoma and KSU.

As far as Chip Kelly... Again I think its a bad idea, and they should find someone that can properly acclimate them to the SEC, but they will probably go after someone flashy.

I turned if off mid-3rd quarter and just checked the score about an hour ago. I had commented during the game how great their D looked and their running game looked. Unbelievable they lost! I want Bama to play them before they fire him though! :) I like the school itself but have not understood why they kept Sumlin after last year.
