Texas A&M at UCLA Game Thread (aka The Hot Seat Bowl)

Funny.

I honestly think someone like Chip Kelly or Helfrich will be their next coach, but I think Miles is probably the best they can get because their problem is that they wont stop trying to be a Big XII team. Miles would probably coach maybe 7 years, but he could set the groundworks to being better in the SEC. IMO

I honestly think Miles would be their best choice.

But I question whether he would - at his age - go back into that grind. He doesn't need it. These are not the old days when Pat Dye was asked by a reporter during Ramseygate if he was going to quit and he said, "No, I owe too much money to be able to quit."

I didn't watch much of the game but up by 34 in the third, they could have run the ball every down just to kill the clock and it would have burned more than half the time remaining.

Fire Sumlin now and you are basically flushing the whole season down the toilet. I think they will wait until closer to mid season to get rid of him.

You have a point here - because they ARE still well alive in the SEC hunt.

No, they ain't gonna win it, but they're still alive.

A lot of people forget this detail, but it's true: when DuBose resigned in 2000, it was right AFTER the UCF game and right BEFORE the LSU game (Saban's first LSU-Bama game but he was on the other side of course). Part of what went into that decision was this: if DuBose had by chance won out against LSU, Miss State, and Auburn - we would, in fact, have won the SEC West with a 6-5 record. That was actually mentioned DURING the broadcast - that we were still alive in the race.

THAT was a BIG part of why the action had to be taken when it did. If it had not happened and Dubious had won out, it would have made Mal Moore look like an idiot and exposed him to all the, "Just as he got it going again and won the division, Alabama fired him. They have unrealistic expectations."

It was - literally - the smart move at the time. I realize that DuBose technically resigned, but does anyone here actually believe he wouldn't have been fired after the UCF loss anyway?

So ATM MIGHT do that themselves.

I hope A&M doesn't hire someone competent.

Let's take a look......

Sumlin? Nope
Sherman? Nope
fRan? Nope
Slocum? well, he wasn't too bad but they were in the SWC when he was hired
Sherrill? cheater
Wilson? nope
Bellard? well, he was actually pretty good

They haven't shown any ability to get it right yet.

If they do, though they - like Florida - are sitting on a powder keg of talent.

This reminds me of that gorgeous info graphic someone made of the Notre dame Bama bcs game. Y'know, except all these stats seem like they were pulled from a nightmare. I haven't checked for accuracy, but if true....Ugh.
