Possible Issues Within LSU Coaching Staff Brewing in Baton Rouge?

LOL Alleva calls a meeting with Yaw-Yaw and both coordinators. Bet Aranda and Canada are face-palming and saying "What Have I Done?"

Going by what several of the local media outlets have said this week, along with an offensive lineman's interview and Coach O's admission of getting a little too involved in the offense. I think there is some divide within the coaching staff and players maybe starting to take sides. Local sports talk radio show this morning played an interview of an offensive lineman who said he liked all the pre-snap motion of Canada's offense because he felt it distracted the defense and made them think a little more. This comes after it was reported that Coach O supposedly told Canada to "simplify" the offense which included cutting back on all the pre-snap movements and shifting.

I told my LSU friends before they hired O and I'm reminding them after they've hired him. He ran Ole Miss' program into the ground and he was passed over for the USCw job. This AFTER being on staff for several years and having the opportunity to sell himself and his style to the program. That should have spoke volumes. Some lessons have to be learned the hard way and I've got a feeling it's about to turn into a dumpster fire in Baton Rouge.

You've pretty much nailed it...cannot believe what I saw from LSU. Coach O needs to be a figure head and recruiter and let the others coach...how stupid can you be to take hire a top notch offensive coordinator and then put binders on him? LSU is my second favorite team -- I was born in Louisiana -- and am just flabbergasted as to what has happened so quickly.

RTR!!!

Not that anybody doesn't already know this, but dissension among the assistant coaches undermines the HC and is one of the quickest ways to lose the team.

Still didn’t stop them from taking an L in the column. The problem isn’t scheme, it’s the players within. Can’t fumble on the first snap of the game. You’ve gotta block someone. You’ve gotta have decent QB play. Those are essential. Until you get those parts, well, you lose to Troy State. (Yeah, I know it’s just Troy now)

Talk about a harbinger for how the game would turn out.

It's why I love college football, it's both simple and complex, a human drama unfolding before us.

LSU right now sits at 3-2. Looking at their schedule I think it's a stretch they win 6 games even if you project they win 2 out of 3 of the toss up games:

UF - loss
AU - loss
Ole Miss - win
Bama - Loss
Arky - win (toss up)
UT - win (toss up)
A&M - loss (toss up)

Final record 6-6.

When's the last time LSU only won 6 games. I'd imagine pre Saban..

or they finally turn around and win three straight games before losing to Bama.

They have a chance against UF juts because of all the suspensions and QB injuries but I'd be shocked if they keep the score close vs AU. LSU got manhandled at the LOS by Syracuse and Troy. Let that sink in..

Remember how it seemed Fournette quit when the season was over? Have to wonder if Guice and/or Key do the same since they saw Coach O not have a problem with LF doing it last year.

because they were " soft." I think they have a small chance to beat Auburn, but they really got to focus and play physical game.

From what I've seen the LSU situation is more than just focusing and deciding to play physical. They don't have those type of players anymore. If they lose to UF the team will quit on the season. Some of the players and coaches already have..

The thing is with that talent they are capable of turning things around and beating every single one of those teams (yes, even Alabama). It doesn't mean they will though of course. It is just a couple of losses, but the competence of the head coach is very much in question. Part of the issue is they didn't start out looking bad, they blasted a generally solid BYU (who turned out to be garbage), then handled UTC (they beat them by more than when Alabama played them last time) but they also turned out to be garbage. So the team went into the Miss. St. game feeling like they were a solid team and... nope. I'm not sure if they are capable of the necessary course correction. The head coach is 25-31 but the best part of that record is when he takes over for someone else. He's 13-27 when it's "his" team.

Totally agree!
I don't, there is no way on earth Troy could beat LSU if LSU was reasonably competent. It's like a beating a guy in a boxing match when the much better fighter shows up completely drunk and can't stand. Did you win the fight? Yeah, ok sure... but we all know why. I mean I get that Troy is feeling good about themselves, but this is just another ULM scenario where one team has to shoot itself in the foot, repeatedly, in order for it to happen.

Until they get to the Alabama game. They hate Alabama. Even if it the only game that gets their attention, it will get their attention.

This whole alleged Alleva come to jesus meeting between the "executive staff" of his football team is so desperate. This guy is done.

The new AD will be the executioner for Coach O after 2018.

I think everyone just assumes this LSU team has talent like they do most years but from watching their games I don't see it. They have talent in spots but that's no different than just about every team in this league. Also consider their 2 best players have been sitting out, protecting their NFL future, and I'd say this years LSU team has on field talent on par with a team like Miss St or UF. This isn't a "very talented" LSU roster that's just sleep walking through the season. This is an average SEC roster sleep walking through the season..
