Game Thread: OFFICIAL POST-GAME THREAD - Bama vs. Barn...

Tough and embarrassing loss, but all things considered the better team won. I saw this coming but hoped we could find some way to pull out a win. Observations.

1. Stidham is a better QB than Hurts, not nearly as good an athlete, but he has better QB skills.
2. Auburn was stronger on both lines of scrimmage.
3. Our play calling was suspect tonight and for most of the season, especially since the LSU game.
4. Our offensive performance in this game is what happens when your entire offense is reliant on one player.
5. This defense was subpar even had we not lost our LBs, but that obviously did not help.
6. Auburn out coached our staff at every turn. We were out coached, out hit, and out hustled by a very good team.
7. We will not likely make the CFP and quite frankly we do not deserve to be included, but an 11-1 record is pretty damn good.

Really doubt they will put two SEC schools in the playoffs, especially since we played so poorly. At least there is plenty of time to rest and prepare for a bowl game. I just hope we don't have a repeat of 2013. Maybe we banged up the Barn enough that GA will win the SEC.

I was going to say Scott did great, until I remembered the botched field goal.

We just got smashed in every phase of the game. Scott's punting was pretty much all we had. It hurts to say this - pun intended - but Jalen Hurts cost us dearly tonight. There were so many times where he held the ball too long and took a sack, or threw it away, when there was a receiver open. And these weren't all the way across the field, but sometimes right in front of him.
As much as I want to be in the playoffs, I don't want to get embarrassed.
There is not enough Makers Mark to dull this.
Lots of bad words go here.

The sack he took on our final chance was frankly unforgivable. You know it's third down, you know you've potentially got 2 plays to pick it up, but instead he took a 12 yard sack to set up a virtually impossible 4th and 22. I know he was trying to extend the play and win the game, but I just don't get it. "Don't take a sack" is like football 101 in a hurry up offense down multiple scores.

As much as I like Hurts, he just isn’t a passer, more like RB with a strong arm.
So the problem wasn't calling slow developing pass plays when Auburn was constantly getting pressure right? Alabama has done that all year, no matter the circumstance...

I agree, but Jalen is just not the style of QB that can pull it off. We have the most talent at Rec and RB we have ever had.

He can. Our staff never really gave him a chance. Every time we went fast and ran RPO plays he was successful. We never stuck with it though. You have to run the Air Raid RPO consistently to get better at it.

You certainly can't make up some hodgepodge amalgam of RPO/Pro Style PA NFL offense. But that's what we did.

Why can’t Saban beat a 9 win AU team. We beat good teams all the time but just seem to hit a wall against good AU teams.

I know most around hear can’t stand Kiffin but, he was masterful at getting the ball to our playmakers. Daboll was and has not been all year. I am just not a fan of his and haven’t been all year long (check my post history).

If Saban was smart he’d be on the phone right now hiring CJM to be OC. Daboll has not been a fit all year. We have great players who were not used correctly. I have defended Jalen all year. However, if you take off the Crimson glasses you will realize he has regressed as the season went on.

Injuries hurt us on D for sure. However, the outcome would’ve been the same if Hamilton and Wilson were 200%. We were not gonna score more than 14.

Auburn is good. Flame away but, they are my pick win the CFP. Better D than all who will be in but Clemson. Behind OU, the best offense.

We're not going to the playoff. This just wasn't our year. You can't have the kind of losses due to injuries that we have had this season and expect to keep going.

Sorry for your loss.....I wouldn't be so quick to assume you're out of the playoffs, either.

And FWIW, you lost to a pretty good team today....nothing to hang your heads about, although I get why some of you would.

You've had a great season.....and I don't think it's over.....hang in there......

At times tonight I felt like I was back in 2007.

Goodbye playoffs, hello Buffalo Trace.
