Doesn't Whiskey play Ohio State in the championship game?
Yes, but folks are split on who would get in (Alabama or OSU) in we beat Wisconsin. To be clear, Wisconsin is absolutely in if they win, so Alabama fans need to be OSU fans in that game.

Alabama isn't going to the playoffs. The entire playoff system was established to give Ohio State a change to win a NT. So it will be Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, and Auburn....UGA isn't beating AU.

If it comes down to a choice between us and a two loss Ohio State, I think we get in. Ohio State has been dismantled by Iowa this year, and they got in last year in a controversial situation and showed they didn’t belong. Now, an undefeated Wisconsin is a sure bet over us. So, for this one time, go Buckeyes!

Yes, but Ohio State isn't the top ranked 2 loss team, Auburn is. Ohio State is actually 9th below Notre Dame. They might jump up some, but it's a very big ask that they go from 9th to 4th. Remember one loss Ohio State got in over a 2 loss Penn State conference championship team last year. If that's flipped, and a two loss Ohio State team gets in over one loss Alabama, in my opinion the committee loses a lot of credibility.

The obstacles as I see it remain Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Of course Ohio State could still get in, but I see that as more likely if both Oklahoma and Wisconsin win.

Edit: I should add that the committee has injuries as part of their criteria. That was a really banged up Alabama team, if they take note of that Alabama in theory could stay in the top 4 (though I doubt it).

We should get in, but we won’t.

The committee doesn’t care how many times you lose or by how much, but God forbid if you lose in late November...

Not a chance. Bama doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. Losing. By 2 TDs to the best team you play is a disqualifier in my book.

So your good with OSU going with 2 losses by more points, one to a much worse team? Thanks.

In kind of the old BCS format, I'd tend to agree with that logic. But take a look at the teams that are in it.

There's a loss to Iowa State, a loss to Syracuse, a loss to Pitt, a blowout to Auburn, and two losses. The road loss to Auburn is better than all those other results.

Here's the thing, I'd tend to agree Alabama isn't in yet. But if Alabama is left out and Oklahoma or Wisconsin lose, it will make the whole committee look like a joke.

So Miami lost to a mediocre team.

So maybe Tuesday it will be

Clemson
Oklahoma or Auburn
Wisconsin

Then Bama at 5? It will be quite interesting to see the rankings on Tuesday.

Yep - Alabama should be #5 and OSU #6. Georgia will be in there somewhere - not sure where.

Where they put Alabama will be interesting to watch. In theory Alabama could be anywhere from 2-7.

The trick is we don't know yet how the committee views Alabama's resume, or how they will evaluate injuries factoring into the loss. How do they rank Alabama's victory over FSU? Is it valuable or meaningless? How do they weigh Auburn's better SoS with two losses vs. Alabama beating LSU and having one loss? We'll know a whole lot once those rankings come out.

But, let's put it this way, if Alabama is 5th or higher I will crack a smile and feel pretty good about things. If Alabama is 6 or 7, I'll be worried because that's a sign that the committee doesn't think much of Alabama's resume.

Looking at the previous rankings, Miami HAS to fall further. Logically, one would also conclude Georgia on the merit of being throttled by Auburn would remain below them as well. So that would actually put Alabama at 5th. I'd feel much safer there than 6th, since that would put Alabama in closer proximity to Ohio State. We'll know a heck of a lot more in a few days.

I dunno, they're down Pettway and I'm betting Johnson is done for a few weeks, at least...

with the committee who knows? Alabama could only drop to 5 or they could drop as low as 8 or 9.

I would bet my mortgage we are in the playoffs if Oklahoma or Wisconsin lose. There is no rational argument you can provide to leave us out if either of those two teams lose next week.

Any other coach would play the injury card with the committee. I hope that Saban does, but doubt that he will. His ego could get in the way there.

if they all win their conference championship games then they all will have more quality wins than Bama. Our best win is who LSU or Miss State? It just says a lot when our 1st top 10 opponent is a loss. We dont have a game to make ourselves look like we belong going foward. We blew that chance today. We are going to need help

Clemson, Miami, Ohio State, and Oklahoma all lost to garbage teams. If they get in ahead of Bama, then the whole thing is a joke...
