I watched every other game he's played.

And in the iron bowl, it wasn't a breakdown by the quarterback that cost us. A comedy of errors, poor O line play with costly mistakes, and playcalling. That's just on the offense.

This was just the first time he couldn't bail us out
We watched a different Iron Bowl then.

2018, NOW I ask one silly question, if we make playoff. Jalen takes us through 2 games and gets title, what will all of the Jalen haters say then? I think we need to finish this year before worrying about next year. I hope we get into playoff, and I hope Jalen takes us to #17. If he does I want to see how fast all this crap goes dark.

I hope we win, regardless of who the QB is. However, I want to see Tua start next year. Period. Because I think his ceiling is higher, and so is the team's with him at QB.

Why is it that when the qb situation is intelligently discussed , people bring up "Jalen hater" . This is a civilised discussion about the qb position and rightfully so. There has been no posts on this board about people hating Jalen. There are posts by people who seem not to think there can be any opposing views point or discussion about the qb position. As far as worry about 2017...was it not you who started a thread about "2018 sec not looking so tough?" You can appreciate and respect Jalen and still discuss the future of this team, it's offensive philosophy and how a qb fits that system . Sorry but the throwing around of the term "Jalen hater" is getting old. There are well respected members of this forum who have tried to give insight on the situation and I appreciate their input when they really do not have to go out on a limb. But f we can't discuss different positions without being labeled as haters, than we as a fan base have fallen. After all, I don't see anyone accusing anybody of being Tua haters? Neither should apply

For the same reason folks just KNOW a back up with little experience is the sure fire cure for all our ills. Tua looks good but he has yet to be put in a game with top team that is fresh and not beat down in the 4th qrt. How he handles being down by 14 with game on the line? Maybe great maybe not. BUT to assume he will out shine a proven winner is silly idiotic and lacking any real thought. There is no way he is that dang great and Saban is not using him. I say hater cause what else could it be? Logic says when you want a 2 loss QB to sit for unproven rookie, why? I still say and will always say Saban knows this team and players better than anyone here. NO one here has seen Tua practice, or work out. There is a reason Jalen starts, Nick thinks at this point he is better. TO think you know more than the coach is idiotic, so what other reason is there for calling for an unproven back up to replace a QB with as much success as Jalen has had. If Jalen was costing us games by INT's and fumbles. If Jalen was giving games away and we had lost 4 games okay, maybe the back up could do better. But to think even a great talent at this point is ready to read defenses, and make split second decisions in SEC play with games on the line, not likely to happen. If we had lost 4 games I say give it to him and see what he can do. But it would take a real talent with experience to improve a lot at this level. Is Jalen perfect? NO Could Tua right now run this offense better? Doubtful, he may be talented, but his lack of game experience in a game that is not all but over, I doubt he is that good or prepared.BUT hey toss him to the wolfs, just do not cry when we do not start beating everyone by 40 points.

Your comment is not going to happen per your post yesterday under another thread talking about the "2018 SEC not looking too strong" thread. You packed it in yesterday and now you are saying this.

What is there to worry about in 2017? It is all but over as far as NC chase. We may slip in to playoff, but with our issues I do not see us doing well if we do get in. Between injuries and erratic offensive play this is not a NC caliber Bama team. The issues we have right now cannot be fixed over night. I loveBama but this is not our year in my opinion, had a great year but the struggles lately just do not look good.

You are making accusations where none are warranted. You've taken a civilised discussion and applied name tags. You've also contradicted your theory of concentrating on 2017 by selecting a position you feel relatively comfortable discussing while disregarding previous threads contradicting yourself . Now you've applied that anyone thinking there could possibly be a qb competition as "idiotic" and knowing more than coaches? You do understand what a discussion board is correct? Furthermore, the offensive identity of this team and the direction coach Saban decides totake the team will determine who or when or if there is a qb change . Again, there are well respected and knowledgable members who have painted and drawn out info for any and every one to see. You don't have to know more than a coach to point out and discuss game analysis and if you don't think.the coaches see the same thing.....I would advise to take your own advice. But the name calling and insinuating really must stop.

I don't care who plays quarterback and we have had three OC's over the past 14 games so I don't know who had/has room for improvement there. Our SEC competition over the past 2 seasons has been somewhat soft compared to most other seasons. Our last 2 losses with Jalen have been critical in that one cost us a national championship and the other may well keep us out of the playoffs. On top of this, our offensive performances against Washington last year and Mississippi State this year were not acceptable either. We need the best analysts, coaches and players to change our product against better defenses. If Mac Jones and a new OC is needed, then so be it. If anyone thinks our 2016 and 2017 offenses were championship caliber, then we're watching different games. I also feel our defensive strategies (blitzes) need a refresh, as well.

Until now I thought others were exaggerating the pure vitriol you feel toward Jalen. A guy for the most part who has done nothing but won. No one even the people who absolutely love Jalen have come after Tua. I know if some how his family start feeling the hate and transfered Jalen out and we had to face him with a offensive coordinator who knew how to use his talent, he would be a monster to stop.

Exactly.... For instance to reference a topic in this thread.

Gus would love to swap.

Since we have at least one game left and 28 days to prepare does anyone think anything discussed in these 51 pages will be corrected before the Sugar Bowl?

Honestly, I don't know what changes or corrections will be made, emphasis on carries for running backs is one I hope is heavily considered

Doesn't matter - Alabama doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway, remember?

Couple of notes on this. First, there has not been one iota of “Jalen Haters” here. From what we know he seems to a good young man who’s been a good player. To question who should be playing based on merits, to be critical does not equate to “hating”.

Second, regarding the NC talk, how he performs is critical to that discussion. If we win the NC and it’s apparent we did so because of his improvement, then it will vanish. If, however, we win a NC in spite of his bad performances, the discussion will persist. Simply winning doesn’t make the questions go away.

Been thinking about that one Gray. Any changes, IMO, will be predicated on the extent to which the offensive players trust him. If it’s as bad as what it seemed to be, there’s some major “winning over” to be done between now and then. If JH gets the O back, then full steam ahead with him because he’ll have done what was necessary. If not, I”m not sure what we’ll see. Would we see Tua start... or just put into the game for a few series... who knows?

I don't know of many people who are clamoring that Tua is the conclusive answer. I think most who are being critical of JH are simply hoping Tua will get a shot. If it ends up that he doesn't perform as well as JH, then you know... right now, you don't.
