[h=1]What you need to know as Alabama begins Sugar Bowl prep[/h]
The No. 4 Crimson Tide (11-1) will practice for a week in Tuscaloosa before taking a few days off for Christmas and traveling to New Orleans on Dec. 27.

Practice schedule

Head coach Nick Saban will hold two press conferences over the next week with his first set to take place following the inaugural Sugar Bowl practice Friday evening. The second and final press conference for Saban will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, also after practice.

Did you mean to put Chick-Fil-A Bowl in the title when linking an article on the Sugar Bowl?

Just hope to high heavens that we don't get any injuries over the next few weeks in practice. If we can avoid those we'll be in good shape come Jan 1..

When asked about the third-down issues, Saban said he has been recruiting every day and that his attention hasn't been focused on self-scouting.

I guess that I kinda expected this, but it still disappoints me.

Speaking of third downs, here's a good link to team rankings , percentages and trends offensively on third down. It kind of gives a picture as to where we started vs where are conversion wise on third down. We currently rank right around 61 at about 40 percent but that percentage drops over the last three games.

Thanks for sharing! There's no way of twisting these numbers. Bad all the way around. No wonder we lost to Auburn!

Also, I couldn't help but notice that the other CFP teams are ranked:

Clemson #10
Georgia #16
OU: #34

You may have watched the presser, I don't know, but it didn't come across like the snip you quoted. It was the last question he fielded, "Have you been self-scouting?" His short reply was essentially that we've been doing a lot but yeah we are doing that too.

Calm down folks, do not put one ounce of worry into the canned answers saban gives press. This is not his first, or second or third rodeo. People tend to try to read too much onto his comments.he is not saying anything about anything of importance at this point. Self scouting, looking at 3rd down conversions, jeez I guess we have lost faith in his coaching ability. The answers he gives this time of year are canned and processed. he is not going to give one little bit of insight to press at to what he is relly doing, why should he. Let Clemson think he is all on the road recruiting and not coaching much at all. If you think that I got some land for sale cheap LOL

You are right, you can't twist those numbers since it was for a whole year which is a very large sampling, rock solid numbers. Now the numbers with a very small sampling is another story.
