Texas AM Gametime?

How could CBS pass on so many potential viewers in Texas for a game against the reigning national champion and -oh by the way - considerable number of viewers Alabama adds to the equation.

I'm predicting 2.30 central on CBS.

Any rumblings on game time for the Texas AM game?

Here are the SEC games scheduled for that day:

Tide-ATM
Auburn-Arky
Tenn-Florida
UGA-Mizzou
MSU-Kentucky
LSU-La Tech
Kent St-Ole Miss
SCe -Vandy

I can tell you right now: the 230 CBS game is either going to be us or the Florida-Tennessee game.

Since ATM joined the SEC, the only year the game was not on CBS was last year.
Why wasn't it on CBS last year?

CBS chose Florida-LSU on September 25......and then LSU lost to Troy on September 30.

This one could go either way. I'd rate it about 70-30 in our favor. If not, it will probably be the 6pm ESPN kickoff.

1) CBS is already committed to Florida for one of their five (at most) telecasts, the Georgia game on Oct 27
2) There are doubleheader broadcasts on 11/3 and 11/10. Go ahead and plan for 11/3 to be LSU-Alabama prime time.

Tennessee-Florida is a huge matchup, but both programs are down right now and in one recent year it was even shown on the piddly ole SEC Network.

It's probably 230, you'll get a date notification probably after the games of September 8.

As long as it is not the first game of the day, Have a flight getting in at 11:30 am that day! Thanks for all of the feedback.

I am hoping for a night game since we will be in the stands, but I'll take any time as long as it comes with a decisive victory!

Well, how many potential viewers did they pass on having Verne Bumblequist call the games?

I'm not sure exactly what the timeframe is for when CBS has to decide but I think there's a strong possibility it's the CBS game depending on how TAMU, UF, and UT start their seasons.

Birmingham. Any concern of getting to T-Town for a 2:30 kickoff?

Yah, that might be tight. If the flight is on time, by the time you de-plane it's about noon. The airport is on the opposite side of Birmingham from Tuscaloosa and there will be heavy traffic heading into town, so that 1-1.25 hour drive could well take 2-3 hours.

You might make it, but man, I think it will likely be pretty tight...

Is 20 the only way into town?

I live just outside of Birmingham and I have found a later arrival is better with the traffic for some games. I-20 is the way to do it, there are some side roads you can take that basically run parallel with 20 but I would suggest sticking with 20.

I can see that being the case. Do you still get there by game time?
