The policy and politics of Trumpism

Weird how he just happens to talk about the same stuff multiple women have accused him of doing.

You’re going for the gold in mental gymnastics apparently.

With the way this media hates this President, do you really, honestly think there is a story out there where he is guilty that hasn't been investigated and aired ad nauseum?

Ooh, sorry. That’s only good enough for the bronze.

Obviously. They made the conscious choice to send a small woman rather than an aide equivalent to Acosta's size. It was all for show.

Between this story and Sessions (who apparently asked to be fired later in the week but was told no, it had to be Wednesday), the media is no longer talking about the shellacking the GOP received on Tuesday. So I guess Trump got the narrative shift he wanted.

The media is complicit. They have the power to control this narrative but refuse to use it.

I guess moveon.org and mother jones along with Huffpo define "shellacking" much differently than most others.

Edited or not, big deal. She grabbed the mike and he lightly touched her arm. So what! Trump's the biggest snowflake of them all.
I agree, but in this time of righteous indignation and everyone being offended, coupled with the fact that folks are addicted to IG and Twitter feeds, every little thing gets blown way out of proportion.

Re: Trump poised to ban more journalists from the White Hous

President Trump said that more journalists could be barred from the White House following the decision to rescind the credentials of CNN reporter Jim Acosta.
Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before leaving for Europe, Trump said that "this is a very sacred place to be" and that journalists did not have a guaranteed right to work there. "You've got to treat the White House and the office of the presidency with respect," he said.

Trump singled out April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks, saying that "she's very nasty and she shouldn't be." He has often clashed with Ryan, a persistent Trump critic who last year became a CNN contributor, and was irked this week when she tried shouting out questions to him at his free-wheeling Wednesday press conference.

"Talk about somebody who’s a loser," Trump said outside the White House on Friday. "She doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing."

No politician wants to be challenged and have their authority questioned. Remember when Obama tried to ban fox news? Didn't work then and won't work now. However it may lead to changing the rules entirely. I don't think it is a law that their must be press briefings.

With the prevalence of social media, politicians no longer rely solely on the Networks to get their message out. It is much better for them to speak directly to the public via tweets and websites.

Have you been asleep?
As soon as he was elected he looked at ways of “possibly” doing away with it.
It only is legitimate for him, no one else.
Comments like these make me wish I could get him in a ring, or a cage, or on an open field - anywhere - just me and him. No weapons, no bodyguards, no nothing but me and him, with only what we were born with (well, maybe trunks of some kind).
He’s a disgrace to “man”kind and should have had his man card pulled decades ago.

Re: Trump poised to ban more journalists from the White Hous

During his Friday pool spread with the White House press corps, President Trump took shots at Kellyanne Conway‘s husband for saying it was “unconstitutional” of him to appoint Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general.
George Conway co-wrote a New York Times piece on Thursday that not only argued that Whitaker’s appointment was “illegal,” but also that anything he tries to do in his new position is constitutionally “invalid.” When Trump was asked about this, the president directed the question to Conway’s wife while writing him off as a publicity-seeker.
“He’s just trying to get publicity for himself,” Trump said. “Why don’t you do this, why don’t you ask Kellyanne that question, all right? She might know him better than me. I really don’t know the guy.”

WSJ: Donald Trump Played Central Role in Hush Payoffs to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal

The Trump Tower meeting and its aftermath are among several previously unreported instances in which Mr. Trump intervened directly to suppress stories about his alleged sexual encounters with women, according to interviews with three dozen people who have direct knowledge of the events or who have been briefed on them, as well as court papers, corporate records and other documents.

While President Trump publicly fought with women leading up the the 2016 election, in private he directed schemes to silence their stories of two alleged affairs.

Taken together, the accounts refute a two-year pattern of denials by Mr. Trump, his legal team and his advisers that he was involved in payoffs to Ms. McDougal and a former adult-film star. They also raise the possibility that the president of the United States violated federal campaign-finance laws.

The Wall Street Journal found that Mr. Trump was involved in or briefed on nearly every step of the agreements. He directed deals in phone calls and meetings with his self-described fixer, Michael Cohen, and others. The U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan has gathered evidence of Mr. Trump’s participation in the transactions.

Re: Trump poised to ban more journalists from the White Hous

I have heard some comments this morning that the Senate will not be so compliant to Trump now that he has shown to have very limited coat tails particularly in the Midwest. There are 12 ,I believe, Republican Senate seats up for reelection in 2020 and most of them would prefer not to be forced into retirement by the electorate. We will see but it seems today that even Mitch McConnell recognizes there are limits to power!

Love that guy, truth is things are going very well by objective standards especially historically for blacks/latinos/etc.
