I bet we will see at least 2 QB rotation in the LSU game, maybe 3.

From Al.com

Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t have to play.

That’s not what anyone wants to hear right now with the latest “Game of the Century” between Alabama and LSU already in overhype mode and still two Saturdays away. Like everyone else, I want to see Tua vs. LSU’s Joe Burrow. Resting Alabama’s injured star quarterback might be the better decision, though.

I know there will be plenty that disagree, but this article makes pretty good sense. All it would take is one good hit and he's probably going to be doing worse for the remainder of the year. I would love to see what Sark could come up with for the LSU game only using his many other weapons.

If I had known it was goodman, I would not have clicked. I hope that goodman asks Saban what he thinks about this article's premise.

Granted, a loss to LSU without Tua and 1-loss Bama could still make the playoff. There's a flaw in his thinking however. What if something crazy happens later at JH and we lose to Auburn? A 2-loss Bama misses the playoff. I think it's best to go all out to beat LSU and then the Auburn game is no longer critical.

Simple and to the point: Without Tua, we do not win LSU game.
I wouldn't go quite that far. I do think it will be a lot more difficult. Mac is a good, solid QB, better than all but 2 or 3 in the conference. One coach compared him, favorably, to Fromm. However, he won't/can't make those 3 or 4 "genius" throws which Tua pulls out practically every game, a lot of the time for a TD. So, more of a struggle without Tua...

They will take away the game and force Mac to win the game with his arm. Fromm is good, but had several bad games.

I'm not sold on this point of view after last week.

Other than sticking the Heisman in OU's face as well, part of me wishes Tua would sit out AND we'd beat LSU.

Because that would drive the fringe element of the LSU fanbase off the rails.

"We couldn't even beat them with our best ever quarterback and them without their best-ever QB....."

According to a legal precedent established by the CFP committee in 2017, all we really have to do when we lose is remind them, "But we played that game without Kelly Bryant." Then the loss doesn't count.

I hope Tua is healthy enough to play, and put the Heisman race to bed early. But my dream option B would be what you said.

I think you let Tua play the first 4-6 drives. Run 7 OL package and 3-4 wideouts. Jump on em early and challenge your D to shut them down.

If OU wins the Big 12 with a single loss, if tOSU goes undefeated, Clemson will be undefeated, and the SEC champ is the fourth team. If we lose to LSU with or without Tua we will not make the playoffs this year. Even if OU loses again, a one loss Oregon could get in. If LSU beats us they run the table, if we beat LSU we still have to deal with auburn on the road.

One scenario that might gets us in with a loss. If we lose to LSU, beat auburn, and auburn beats UGA we have an outside chance.

I think that if we lose to LSU, we're out of the playoff picture. OTOH, if we beat LSU, they may still have a shot, especially if it's a close game. Jalen and OU were the darlings of college football...until they lost to an unranked team. Now Burrow and LSU are the Cinderella story.

I think if Tua is able to walk, he'll play against LSU. The question Saban and staff have to ask themselves is: Is a 85% or 90% Tua better than Mac? I think they believe that if we beat LSU, unless we lose the SECCG, we're in the playoffs. Why chance it if Tua's able to play?

If Tua plays and Bama loses I don't see how Bama gets in the playoff. You can't lose your only game against a top 10 team and get in.
