Super Bowl predictions

I was going with the Chiefs the last 2 weeks but then it dawned on me that high powered offenses haven't done well in the past few SBs.

That said

Niners 34
Chiefs 30

The 49ers are clearly the better team, but the question mark is if Jimmy G is ready for this moment....

Just have seen this script too many times before. Defense actually matters in the NFL, and the 49ers have probably a defense that cements it’s legacy against a great offense while the Chiefs are taught the same lesson that the Patriots taught them last year... Their defense isn’t Super Bowl good.

49ers 34
Chiefs 17

I'm just hoping it's a 35-31 type of game that gets won on the last possession of the game.

On another note, it would be the icing on the cake of a future Hall of Fame coaching career for Andy Reid.

49ers 34-24, defense gets it done. I know the Chiefs have an explosive offense, but they also have a defense that averages giving up 400 yards per game

Someone will win...I will eat too much at a neighbor's home...and tomorrow I really will not care. I wouldn't mind seeing RR get a Super Bowl win on his resume...he could get a lot of PT as SF runs more than passes (the understatement of the year!)

The Chiefs don't even know if they are from Kansas or Missouri.
I know you are a joking, but to those who never been there.

They are from Missouri, and even KCK folks know that. Most of Kansas City's population is in Missouri since the business and entertainment districts are there. KCK is basically an old town that supported the boom of its neighbor, and is just a suburb of the REAL city. Anyone who talks about KC is 90% referring to KCM.

The 49ers are a far more complete team, so have the advantage. I would prefer to see the Chiefs win. My prediction:

49ers - 38
Chiefs - 27

Im kinda in the same boat. Personally I don't want the 49ers to tie my Steelers and the Patriots at 6, because youll start to hear the 6-1 vs 6-2 and 6-5 nonsense from niners fans, and I would like to see KC win it because it would be a great story for Patrick, Andy, and the City. But ultimately, I think they are going against an all time great defense and have a mediocre defense to counter the niners under valued offense.

Hoping Chiefs but expecting Niners...

Their defense gave up fewer points in the regular season than the 49ers did despite being on the field for 85 additional plays.

The best defense in the NFL didn't even win their playoff game, though. New England had a better defense than the 49ers do, and they couldn't beat the Chiefs in Foxborough. The 2nd best defense in PA was Buffalo, and they lost six games.

I don't disagree with you in theory.

But I think too many folks are letting the Green Bay games dominate their thinking. The 49ers have a good defense, yes, but they also gave up 46 points to the Saints. They're NOT the 2000 Baltimore Ravens (for example).

I've run the numbers and this is what I've got:

KC 28 SF 24

Past performance of this model has been pretty good, even with the NFL
SB 48 - Seattle in a romp over Denver
SB 49 - Seattle 31 Pats 21 (well, the Hawks WOULD have had 31.....if.....)
SB 50 - Carolina slightly over Denver (wrong but the game was close until late)
SB 51 - Patriots 31 Falcons 27
SB 52 - Eagles (but the numbers weren't close..)

So I feel decent enough about it unless Mahomes pulls a Cam Newton.

2 things

1) Im not basing my "hunch" on Green Bay. Green Bay was that team that everyone that wasn't a Cheese head knew was that bad team with a great record. How they secured the #2 seed is beyond me, and probably says how bad the Saints are at choking. Green Bay still refuses to build a team around Rodgers and it seems Rodgers will end his career just like his predecessor in that he won a SB out of nowhere early in his career and never could get that 2nd one everyone thought he was destined for.

So it didn't surprise me at all that 49ers blasted them into cheese curds

2) For the Saints game there are probably two things to consider...

1) It was in New Orleans and
2)It was the week after they traveled to Baltimore and held Lamar Jackson and co under 300 yards (only the Steelers and Bills had better outings all year but both had Baltimore at HOME).

Sure the Chiefs faced a better statistical defense against the Pats, but anyone watching that game could tell you that the game was more about Brady and Edelman sucking than Mahomes dominating the Pats (which didnt happen). For crying out loud, the Chiefs had 136 penalty yards to 25 of the Patriots and the final was 23-16 KC.

KC will see the best defense since then, with a far superior offense. I just get that SB 48 feeling on this one in which another AFCW team goes totally untested for a year and goes against another NFCW very good defensive team

So I feel decent enough about it unless Mahomes pulls a Cam Newton.

IDK its just when there is a dominant defensive line and a really good secondary on defense, it usually is a safe bet that chaos happens. Manning and Newton both found that out in SB 50

The red team wins.:p

I don't care who wins but I would like to see Andy win one. I was in Philly last week and everyone up there is pulling for Andy. Even though they kicked him out, they still respect the guy.
