Scott Cochran is Leaving for Georgia

Thinking out of the box...what if CSC realized that maybe his ideology was wrong and did contribute to some of the injuries and he just doesn't want that pressure anymore? He has to hear the whispers?
Take that burden away and get a fresh start with some that will have shorter work days and no rules... 🤷‍♂️

Side note: Is he really going to pay him 600K to coach special teams?...or is Cochran taking a huge pay cut?

I think Chris Low reported CSC didn't have the choice to speak to the team. It wasn't his decision. Regarding him leaving. It's a career move for him. Yeah, considering Smart and Saban's bad blood it probably wasn't the best move from an optics standpoint. But it's reported he really wants to be an on the field coach and obviously wasn't going to get that from Saban. We only get one time around in life and at the end of the day have to do the things necessary to accomplish our dreams. He's been at Alabama for 12 years and hasn't been promoted to an on field coach. I think he was more than patient. I have no angst against him. But I will also not have any sympathy when we completely destroy him and Kirby in September either.

True...……….....but it also begs the question, even with his scout team experience, do you give him a position coach job over someone who has a lot more experience? I have no angst against him either. I thought he did a great job while at Bama, but I will shed no tears for him when Bama beats him

And I second DzynKingRTR and 92Tide's, as well as bamaga's feelings toward UGA.................I live here as well and have heard their proclamations constantly since 1980, and It tends to make one dislike them

Some of you are starting to understand 92Tide's and my own hatred of all things uga. The troll that resides on this board is actually one of the more tame ones. We Georgia residents have to live with these everyday.
Yep....me too!!! Living in Georgia is like dating the hot chick in college...Fun as heck to get her all wound up, but most of the time she's just a pain the the backside...

I think Cochran sees it as his best chance finally to get the “on field” position he desires. However, for Kirby, I think he believes it gives him a chance gain more insight of future plans (ie: recruiting, staff training/changes, future possible offensive/defensive scheme changes) and simultaneously, in his mind, attempting to weaken the Bama program by getting Cochran. I think it has little to do with Kirby thinking Cochran is going to be some great contributor to his team in a special teams coach capacity.

I know many have mentioned Cochran’s close friendship with Kirby. That’s all fine and good. But we’ve learned what “bowl cut Kirby” is capable of since his departure. He wouldn’t hesitate to throw his own mother under the bus if need be, much less Scott Cochran, if Kirby needed to do so.

Good luck to you Cochran. The devil that you know (CNS) is often better than the devil you don’t know or think you know (CKS).

I could see Kirby thinking this gives him some sort of edge...…..................but those things he finds out can be changed or modified at a whim, negating any perceived edge he thinks he has

I wasn't suggesting CNS hire him. I was simply coming at it from CSC's personal career standpoint. Not Nick Saban's or Alabama's best interest. If it's CSC's career goal is to be an on the field coach and it's not going to happen at Alabama. He needs to move on. Regardless of the relationships he's built and so forth.

Also, I think it is obvious that CNS didn't see enough in CSC even after being on staff for 12 years to give him a shot at an on the field coaching position. That, IMO, speaks volumes. Yet CNS is willing to give an opportunity to someone in Pete Golding as DC who at several points last season people wanted to fire immediately.

No, I knew what you meant...…………...I should have clarified, but that was more aimed at the notion by some ( read UGA lurkers) that thought he wasn't given a chance. Some of them are saying Saban was unfair to him, but I don't think so. And I agree that if that was what he wanted, he should have moved on......You have to do what's best for your career

As for Pete Golding, he did have on the field experience......................whether he improves or not, we shall see.

I am happy for Coach Coch but also excited about this new opportunity at the Capstone. Not sure if we will bring someone in from the outside or promote from within. What would be sweet though would be to bring in Wilson Love from Ole Miss...you know, take a boy back from the same Kiffin that was the first to try to hire our S&C coach away from us.

Supposedly Saban is meeting with Fields from Oregon...……...….

Kirby is such a smarmy character that he might actually hire Cochran just to hurt Saban and Bama...calculating that whatever bad Cochran brings as an on-field coach will be outweighed by the bad his absence causes for us.

he's apparently that sleazy of a guy.

I’m all in for Fields. Dude has the pedigree and Oregon definitely improved it’s overall size and strength since Cristobal has taken over.

I’m not one to read between the lines but...

”"He wanted to get on to the field coaching and would like one day, I think, to be a head coach," Saban told ESPN. "We didn't really have anything here to offer him along those lines, and Georgia did. I understand him wanting to take on that path.”

I heard on the radio CSC is from New Orleans and his dream job is to be the HC at Tulane. Dream job and Tulane don't seem to go together but......
