The College Football Nerds Model:

View attachment 13825
For those of you not familiar with their model, this chart essentially tells us how horrible Ohio State's secondary has been this year. This year we have allowed teams more yards passing against us than they have averaged against other opponents - 106%, to be precise.

It predicts that Alabama will have 157 yards rushing and 370 yards passing.
It predicts that OSU will have 207 yards rushing and 237 yards passing.

If it plays out like that, Alabama wins by 2 scores. If Waddle comes back, it only gets worse.

I am really worried about our chances in this game.

I think Waddle is a decoy, I could be wrong but no way he is close to 100%. It’s going to be near impossible to stop Bama but the same can be said for Ohio State. If we have to choose Najee or Smith, I say we stop Najee. To paraphrase Woody, 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them ain’t good. Take your chances with Smith, try to get pressure on Jones. Maybe they score every time, maybe you get a tip and interception. I think this will be a very high scoring game.
If Waddle is on the field he will not be a decoy. Saban will not let him on the field if he isn’t going to be contributing and close to 100%.

That is a good model, however, you have an elite QB in JF and we know Bama's demise is great QB play. If we get pressure on him and can contain him we will win the game, however, the way OSU and JF looked against Clemson I can see OSU being in the game and possibly winning.

I just have a strong feeling this is going to be a high scoring game. I think Alabama's defense will play well to begin with but Ohio State will find things that work and we won't be able to adjust very well.. I think it's got the potential to be a lot like the SEC championship game was.

Our special teams, which have been great all year, have to have their best game I think.

Fields being dinged up presents the biggest wildcard of this game to me (Captain Obvious here). A lot of mobile quarterbacks are more accurate because the threat of them running helps to cause issues in coverage. While Fields is more accurate than most, I still believe his threat of pulling it down and running it does still help him to see more open receivers. Will OSU try to protect him from taking more hits by not utilizing his run game? If so, does that take some pressure off the Bama D....of course it does. Or does it become a moot point because the injury is healed to the point that Fields is able to use all of his weapons..ie his legs. The ultimate question in my mind is just how many hits can that kid take before it affects his performance....I don't think anyone will know that until Monday night.

This would not be the first game OSU pulled the plug on because of C19. Am I a jerk because I think keeping your players vigilant and not putting themselves at risk is just part of football this year. Would we cancel or put off the game because a "position group" all got hurt in the semi's? No. Play with who you have.
What if we are 100% clean for the 11th and then Mac or DS gets it for the makeup date?

I will get off my soapbox now.....maybe.

At this point I would be shocked if it is not delayed. There is a published report out, there are discussions between the CFP, BIG 10 and SEC at this point it is just a formality.

The rules have been changed for osu all year, why should we stop now.

I agree with that. I’m saying I will be surprised if he’s actually out there. It feels like it’s a rabbit for Ohio State to chase and take some time away from meaningful prep.

From left to right, John Chubb (Buck-I-Guy), Larry Lokai (Buckeyeman) and John Peters (The Big Nut)

I saw the guy on the left on Bourbon Street. He blew me off after I asked to get a picture.

I’ve never seen the guy in the middle

But the Big Nut was the one I’ve seen a lot on TV.

The majority of Buckeye fans can’t stand these three idiots.
I ran into the dude with the cowboy hat on Bourbon Street in 2015 during the game. I like to get pics with famous fans of other teams or just interesting ones. So I tried to get one with him because I saw him on the CFP ads. He basically gave me the "screw off" kinda deal. No big deal, but not typical of famous fans associated with programs.
