I can't wait any longer to start this thread.Simply the game of the year.Late night, prime time,Fouts vs Garcia.Happy birthday Montana, bring it on home.RTR!
4-0 Bruins. They put 3 across in the 6th off a Maya Brady homer. What was the final last night of the UCLA-FSU game? I went to bed after the 4th scoreless inning.
Both teams were playing lights-out defense.

Is it expected that Fouts will go again tonight vs. UCLA? How does a staff get a pitcher ready to go again after a 100 + pitch outing? To some degree I understand what may be considered to get an athlete ready after a significant amount of fluids are depleted. I believe the bigger challenge is to mentally sharp after the 1st game adrenalin rush. I appreciate that she may be accustomed to this but it is the World Series and a huge load to carry by an athlete.4-0 Bruins. They put 3 across in the 6th off a Maya Brady homer.
FSU pulled the starting pitcher, a bit prematurely I thought. The new pitcher gave up a home run to Brady. What was the final last night of the UCLA-FSU game? I went to bed after the 4th scoreless inning.

I don’t understand it, but apparently the mechanics of an underhand softball pitch aren’t as stressful on the arm as those of an overhand baseball pitch. Fouts went two consecutive games in the SEC Tournament. Wasn’t quite as sharp in the second one, but did fine.Is it expected that Fouts will go again tonight vs. UCLA? Agreed. Today is the most important game of the season thus far. Win, and whoever emerges from the losers’ bracket has to play either three or four games in two days, and beat us twice on that second day. Then and only then do they get to the championship series. Lose, and we’re the ones that have to win three games in two days, including two against UCLA.I will be shocked if Montana doesn't pitch tonight.
Thank you. Excellent discussion. I felt that Oklahoma approached game one as if they were entitled. The conduct of the entire team coming out of the dug out to lead cheers, constantly appealing calls and and an overall superior attitude really stuck out. To me it smacked of Georgia's entire football team coming out to the center of the field then getting a good whupping! Can they make it back through the losers bracket? Side Note: Because Oklahoma lost their first game, they have to win twice today and twice tomorrow to advance to the championship series. Four games in two days, against WCWS-caliber teams. Moral of that story: Don’t lose your first game.
We’re in exactly the same position we were in against Clemson in the second game of the Tuscaloosa Regional. Up to that point in the season, the second game in the Regional had been our most important. Now, because it’s the WCWS, this one supersedes.
Montana Fouts at 85-95% is still better than just about anybody in college softball, and I think gives us the best chance to win. If Fouts struggles (which I don’t expect, but could happen….she is coming off 100 pitches, and UCLA is the #2 overall seed), Lexi Kilfoyl isn’t shabby.
Four games in two days is a tough ask, even for the #1 seed. Then, even if you do manage to pull that off, you have to start a best-of-three series against another really good team the very next day. Huge stress on the pitching staff.Thank you. Excellent discussion. I felt that Oklahoma approached game one as if they were entitled. I agree, but yesterday's win over the Sooners was still glorious. With how Oklahoma going to the losers bracket, this maybe the preview of the national championship series. I don’t think Okie St can hit either team, and JMU has only so much time here.
It was, but without consistent hitting and a good #2 pitcher you can’t survive long. They may beat Okie St but I don’t think they could beat either Alabama or UCLA.I agree, but yesterday's win over the Sooners was still glorious.
They changed it to ESPN 2 last night. 8:30ish central time depending on JMU in the 7th.The schedule shows ESPNU at 9:30 . On my TV it's showing NCAA baseball . What's up with that ?
It was an amazing game. Alexander is gutsy. I think Both Oklahoma schools maybe done unless something changes in the next 24 hrs because they are going to get a heavy dose of elite pitching from here on out.JMU just “planted a flag” in OKC and “claiming the state championship” of Oklahoma.
Where’s Baker Mayfield when you need him?
