I think better question is who does the SEC admit to get 32 teams without poaching teams from the BIG 10 and keeping some cultural and geographic similarities?
Please if there are 32, let one be the Cajuns. Just to screw with LSU. It would be glorious. Theres talk here of expanding the stadium to 60k.

LSU might bolt if that ever happened. ;)

Either way it would keep the local boys in Lafayette and LSU would be gutted in recruiting.

With a 24 team conference you could have 4 6-team pods playing a 14 game conference schedule allowing you to play home and home and play everyone twice in 4 years leaving for 2-3 games of post season play.

In baseball and softball, you could have a 42 game conference schedule leaving some room for end of season tournament play.

In basketball, you could have a 28 game conference schedule with room for end of season tournament.

Sankey is going for the kill shot. The expanded playoff and everything to do with college football is being reshaped. I seriously doubt he’s going to accept G5 conference winners in any playoff scenario and I don’t blame him. They don’t belong. A 4 loss SEC team is more worthy than a Cincinnati, Central Florida, Memphis, Houston, etc.

No, if the SEC gets OSU and UM, Fox Sports in the collegiate arena IS DEAD, period., end of story. The could not do the major golf tournaments well and gave those up...they are terrible in the NFL -- my opinion. I guarantee you ESPN is helping fund this movement to push them off the cliff.
Pretty damn scary when you really think about it….this gives ESPN a ton of power with regards to college football. And it’s not out of the question that power could go completely un-checked if some of these other conferences/schools don’t play their cards exactly right. Like I heard someone on ESPN say earlier…. The Big 10 is probably the only conference that can stay put and survive…. But they will not thrive in that scenario. I tend to agree.

While I understand Michigan and Ohio State could again boost the SEC brand, you do realize they are not located in the Southeast correct? Do you have any idea how many episodes of "It's a Southern Thing" they would have to watch to even scratch the surface of what the SEC is all about? In my eyes Missouri is not the SEC and never will be, but i'm old and remember back in the day when it was truly teams located in the Southeast.

This is just another round of musical chairs to get more money. In 10 years we will rack 'em up and do it all again when TV contracts are getting close to expiring. Musical chairs for money is the new norm, but for God sakes, can we at least stick with teams located in the Southeastern region of the country?

I hear you...but I've had to change my perception. Conferences will no longer be regional alliances...but national, based on their ability to draw viewers for CFB. Quite a lot to swallow for us "old-timers" who've been following UA/SEC since the late 1950's. And the "It's a Southern Thing" is going the way of the Dodo...

Nobody's playing a 14 game SEC schedule...

These rumors are getting beyond ridiculous. I hope Bama wins every game, but this may be the last straw for me as a fan of college football.

Initially I felt the same way. But upon further reflection, it seems this may all be a front for replacing the ncaa. Everyone is hung up on Ohio State/Michigan to the SEC and how outlandish that is. And it is on the surface. But if the end game is simply the SEC as an entity replacing the ncaa, not a whole lot necessarily changes with regards to the on the field and who plays who and all of that.

We could end up with a totally new organization with 50 teams or so and it's divided up within that new group of teams to make geographic and historical sense. Or, maybe 2 new organizations of 24 teams a piece, again, divided up in divisions based upon natural rivals.

Just a thought. But if we're really talking about just bringing in Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, and Florida State just because we can, then it is a ridiculous notion, IMO.
