Meanwhile, the picture shows the ref staring directly at the QB with nothing impeding his view.

The real reason they let a fumble recovery play out is so they don’t screw a team out of a recovery just in case the call on the field is wrong.

And the bad thing about letting them play out in the hopes that replay will get it right is Najee last year against Ole Miss.
Najee's forward motion had stopped and he was headed back, and along comes an Ole Miss DB to grab the ball out of his hands.
Then replay does not overturn the mistake, saying, "We can't overturn a late whistle."
That is a problem.

Honestly though, with DJU at QB, I do not think Clemson will make it to the playoff, even as bad as the ACC is.
DJU is frankly awful.
