I just never favor calling a timeout when your own kicker is lining up. He really should have challenged it immediately and never let him line up imo. College kickers are the most nervous kickers in the world. No reason to make them think longer than necessary.

I think they should have tried to pull them offsides at 4th and 4.

There's a lot you can bag on Norvell for. The "Gus on LSD" play calling, for example.

But you make that challenge. A 38 yarder is a much higher percentage kick than a 50 yarder. Whether the kid made the practice kick or not is immaterial.

Idk. I’ve seen less 50 yard misses lately that 20-30 yarders. It seems distance is no longer a concern for kickers these days as it is angles.

At certain angles, the closer you are the worse it is.
