Maybe someone upstairs with access to video of the previous play didn’t get a good look at it and buzz him until right before the kick.

The biggest "if" in this game for me is what if FSU didn't go for it on 4th on their own end in the 3rd quarter? Norvell almost won in spite of all his dumb decisions.

And ND seems to be drastically overrated as per usual...
Oklahoma, Clemson and Georgia seem to be overrated also.

Interesting that when the play with Milton initially happened, my first thought was his arm was going forward and was an incomplete pass. But when it wasn’t reviewed immediately (I believe in overtime all replays are initiated from the booth unless challenged-each team has one challenge in overtime. Could be wrong about this) I thought “okay it was fumble”.

If the call for the review comes from the replay official in the booth, then why didn’t it happen sooner? If the challenge must come from the coaches then why didn’t someone on the FSU pick it up sooner? I’m not a rocket scientist, but it I picked up on it almost immediately, why didn’t either the replay official or FSU catch on?
It was the right call to challenge the call on the field of a fumble. The question, at least for me is regardless of the scenario, why did it take so long to move to review?

About Milton starting or not starting…

That was a horrific injury he suffered. And quite frankly, I he’s really 100%. He may be 100% healed, but if I’m his coach I’m hesitant to let him play just because of the nature of what he went through.

Having said that, the other kid didn’t play that bad all things considered. Two of those interceptions were flat out all-American plays by that dB.

I Cringed when he said it, and knew there would be blowback-

.
Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said he was joking when attempting to echo a quote from former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach John McKay following Sunday's 41-38 overtime win at Florida State.

When asked by ABC's Katie George about Notre Dame holding off a furious Florida State rally, Kelly replied, "I'm in favor of execution. Maybe our entire team needs to be executed after tonight. We just didn't execute very well."

The ninth-ranked Fighting Irish led 38-20 entering the fourth quarter but were outscored 18-0 in the final 13:42 of regulation.

During the Buccaneers' inaugural season in 1976, when the team went 0-14, McKay once was asked about his team's execution. He famously replied: "I'm in favor of it."

"It's an old John McKay quote," Kelly told reporters in Tallahassee. "I was kidding. It was tongue-in-cheek. It wasn't funny? ... I was talking and making a joke about it. It was taken serious? Are you people crazy?"

Kelly's comment to ABC immediately generated strong reaction on social media.

Before his Tampa Bay tenure, McKay coached Southern California for 16 seasons and won four national championships. He became a College Football Hall of Famer in 1988.

"It's a John McKay quote that he used after a game," Kelly said. "I was stealing one of his old quotes and being funny, because nobody likes to be funny anymore. If you want to take me to town on that, please do."
Brian Kelly should never speak in public, even his explanation his cringeworthy comments!

I had to go out and buy some new shoes for the new/old job. I was listening to the radio and they are still talking about this. Kelly is still saying he was quoting McKay. I am pretty sure McKay's quote was about execution of plays and not actually murdering the team, but I could be wrong. McKay had some great quotes over the years. I hate McKay's son. That has nothing to do with the quote. I just wanted to say it. I hate John McKay's son.

McKay - as Tampa Bay coach - was asked, "What do you think of your team's excution?" He said, "I'm in favor of it" or "I'm all for it" (depending on the source you read). He was clearly joking and SO WAS KELLY!!! I just thought it was an awkward attempt at an obvious joke. Anyone who reads anything beyond that into Kelly is just plain out of their minds.

Yes, McKay's quote was about the execution of plays, gameplans, etc. Not people.

So this means, if Kelly thinks he is riffing the same joke as McKay, then he horribly misunderstood McKay.

And that's par for the course with Kelly.

yeah I am not offended at his take on the joke. I think he completely doesn't get the joke, what the joke was referencing, etc. Or hell... I never did.

My problem with him was that it's yet another time he was completely out of his element giving an interview on the field. His brain melts down. And, while I may be reading too much into it, I think it's because of his arrogance.

Oh I got that it was a joke. Kelly just didn't quite get the joke the right way.

Have I mentioned how much I hate John McKay's son?

Actually, it's an intended double entendre. I don't think Kelly missed the joke at all, he just botched the (pardon the pun here) execution of it. Bill Belichick can never be Bill Parcells in a press conference.

As a Bucs fan from an early age I can assure you it was a tongue-in-cheek play on words. A double entendre. McKay was absolutely joking about 'murdering' the team for their poor performance.

He was known to have a wicked sense of humor, this was par for the course.

I got the joke as well, and knew he was kidding, but I cringed because I knew it wouldn’t play well in some circles. Especially with his awkward delivery. Then in his explanation asking reporters’ are you people crazy?’
Brian Kelly seems like a nice enough guy, probably a pretty good guy to have a beer with. Just don’t put a microphone in his face!
