Are you watching the trial at all or are we banking on being strident and emotive to make our point?

Prosecution witnesses literally said these things. That's kind of important.
No, you are ignoring everything that went on before this happened. These people are all alive and well if this coward did not break the law. All of them, including the coward.

that is one of the most god awful songs ever recorded and making folks in the courtroom listen to it is akin to assault. that should be grounds for permanently removing this judge from the bench.
It's awful, indeed.

But it's been popular among the 'hyper patriotic' far longer than Trump has been a part of politics. Seems like a reach tying it to Trump, but maybe the judge is a supporter.

Out of curiosity, why was he not charged with a Class H Felony under Wisconsin law? Did the weapon in his possession not legally quality as a short barreled rifled? Is this law still on the books?

Most assault rifles are considerably longer than 26” as well as the barrel is longer than 16”.

So the barrel has to be 16” from the far tip all the way to just to the right of the trigger. Of course his personal model could’ve been modified, I don’t know. Generally the barrel just looks shorter because of the grip. This model in particular has an overall length that excludes it from the qualification of a “short rifle” by the law you linked

They are also alive and well if they didn’t break the law, this goes in circles. If you consider his actions before you have to consider their actions before as well Evenly apply standards.

You can't even buy an SBR without an ATF tax stamp, and if this were an illegal SBR, this trial would be waiting for the ATF to be finished with him. Keep in mind the current average wait time on a tax stamp is >200 days. As someone <18 (who therefore does not meet eligibility for the SBR tax stamp) the firearm would be illegal and he'd be tried under federal law, serving a up to 10 years (and fined up to $250,000) upon conviction..

This wasn't an SBR, it was an off-the-rack AR15 variant semi-auto rifle.

Yea I feel like that law is meant to keep people from running around with MP5s and such.

A friend bought it for him, but he'd be subject to all of the difficulties you mention. Also, any gunsmith who modifies a rifle for someone to make it illegal is facing gruesome penalties. Incidentally, I understand the "friend" is to take the stand for KR. Just from looking at the rifle, it doesn't hit me as being short. Looks standard...

in addition to it being absolute dreck musically, i have an averse reaction to that song due to working on staff at camp horne (boy scout camp) in the summer of '84 when that song came out and having it blasted over the loudspeakers non-stop.

i do know that the song was popular among military folks (at least the ones in my family) since around the first iraq war. it really seemed to take off after 9/11 and trump has been using it as an intro song/rally song since he first started campaigning.

I would hate to hear your opinion of all the Toby Keith songs… Btw he is one of the biggest jerks I’ve been around.

BTW, the friend, in purchasing the rifle as a "straw man," for an ineligible owner, has admitted to a federal violation. The sentence is up to ten years and the fine is up to $250,000...

What's not to like? A chickenhawk (aren't they all?) country music singer who shills for those who dig false patriotism? I mean, I can listen to Toby all day long while I'm driving my 4x4, looking for lib'ruls to blow black coal from my exhaust pipes. ;)
