Closer to 1:30 when it happened, 4:30 when he was arrested.Agreed. Especially given the timing, it’s really weird.
After 4:00AM, Jay is at or near Sara’s house. Or maybe he’s following her. I don’t know. But there’s no way around the fact that he’s up, awake, and at her house in the wee hours of the morning. If it were anybody else, I’d think there was a good chance alcohol was involved.
But he’s been opposed to drinking since he was a kid. At least publicly anyway. And I’m not aware that that’s changed.
So if he was influenced by something stronger than coffee, when did his habits change? If he was sober as the proverbial judge, what is he doing at his sort-of-ex’s house at 4:00AM? Not to mention, that line of thinking brings up an entirely different set of questions.
Like I said earlier, it’s possible to construct a benign explanation. But no matter how you cut it, the facts that we have now do no present a good look for Jay.
A lot can change between the time of initial arrest, and arraignment and or trial. Cooler heads or cooler head Lawyers have been known to prevail.Another possible explanation is that he wasn't trying to run over anyone, but perhaps reckless or perhaps someone else is just angry at him and "misinterpreted" his actions. Who knows at this point? If there is security footage it may become public later and will give a good idea of the truth if the film exists.
She wanted him to "share his feelings." He did. What was the cause of his divorce from his first wife?
In the State of Alabama and in many other states...I wouldn't advise doing any research into how many people - under our justice system - are arrested and charged (at least initially) with crimes for which they aren't found guilty, especially if you remove crimes of simple possession of drugs and paraphernalia...
Fact. Exact scenario, been there done that with #2, but it gets better: she didn’t want to go to a “man”, so SHE picked the female counselor. Same identical result. She wanted him to "share his feelings." He did.
Then she got mad that "his feelings" weren't "her feelings" as if something was wrong with him and insisted they go to marriage counseling.
Then she got mad when the marriage counselor not only wouldn't change him but pointed out flaws on her part.
Oh, I'm sorry, you were talking about Jay Barker......
On a lighter note: if you knew how many times I've have heard of/seen the scenario in blue, you'd swear it was taken from an ancient work of literature somewhere.
It is generally to cool things off and avoid a real tragedy. A whole lot better than just letting folks go and hoping that cooler heads prevail. And not for nothing, someone always goes to jail in a DV situation; sometimes both parties, but at least one of them.
Until two years ago, stealing a decent bicycle would get you felony larceny charges in Virginia (the dollar value was set at $250 worth of property).I can't see any circumstance where being charged with domestic assault with a deadly weapon is just having "a bad day".

In the middle of a situation most police are ill-equipped to handle. Now you have somebody really ****ed because they went to jail for arguing with their spouse (not saying that’s the case here but I have personally seen that happen - neighbors called the cops because they heard “loud voices”.)It is generally to cool things off and avoid a real tragedy. A whole lot better than just letting folks go and hoping that cooler heads prevail.
there may be a new country hit in there somewhereRough night for former Alabama QBs.
Mac Jones is getting run over by the Bills.
Jay Barker tried to run over the woman who pays his.
If that had happened in Utah it’s possible (in theory anyway) Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie might both still be alive. And not for nothing, someone always goes to jail in a DV situation; sometimes both parties, but at least one of them.
I once worked with a guy named Rahn. It was pronounced like Ron. He said the unusual spelling came when his mother was on pain drugs after his birth and the nurse asked what his name was going to be to fill out the birth certificate. She said “Ron” but she slurred her words and the nurse misunderstood her.Contrary to what seems to now be popular opinion, it is very much possible to misspell and/or mispronounce your own name.
I could walk around all I wanted saying my first name was supposed to be pronounced like, "shar-lez," but that would not change the fact that my first name is Charles.
Names have meaning, if they are previously used names and/or have linguistic roots - and bestowing a name on a person has effects, intentional or not and realized or not.
People should take far more care than they often do when naming their children...
