new tailgating rules

Did she have any specifics? You do realize that they would have to plant a lot of flower beds to do that.

Honestly, I doubt that tailgating will be greatly different from prior years. The only possible way is if they enforce the rules that they've had in place regarding electrical outlets that they've never really enforced in the past. I may have a problem with that but I really don't blame the University considering the liability issues.

And before anyone brings up the area in front of Moore and Little halls, let me say "GET OVER IT".

I scouted out my spot on the quad and I noticed that the spot in front of mine was now a flower bed.
The people who used to set up there will now have to move.
I just hope that they don’t move into my spot before I can set up my ezy-up.

Where specifically do you tailgate? I know that they were doing some landscaping around the mound.

I'm on the north east corner of the quad across from the museum of natural history.
The building right next to me has had flower beds installed on the east and south side (front).
I don’t know if the front flower bed will cause any one any problems but the one on the side has taken up about 20 to 25 feet and the people who sat up there last year would bring 3 ezy ups and use all of the space there.
I didn’t notice the mound, sorry but I was checking out my spot on my way to the scrimmage last weekend and didn’t walk around the quad.
BTW the map of the quad shows that they are going to have on of those trailer restrooms on the corner that I tail gate on.
If the do put one there I might have to move.
That would be just too much traffic streaming thru that small corner.
Most people who tailgate in that area just pay a dollar and use the museum of natural history’s bath rooms.

Don't know the specifics but they did dens out letters to aluminist who pay dues etc. like season ticket holders about the tailgating changes. I guess nobody knows the extent of it until we get down there and see it, but I did want to let people know that they are apparently trying to curtail some of the tailgating that sprawls out anyplace you can set up, so good luck everyone and heres to hoping your spot hasn't been turned into a flowerbed.

I'm most anxious (and not in a good way) to see how the additional 7,000 people will affect traffic. It seems extreme to some, but I'm planning on being down there by 12:30 in hopes of avoiding most of the incoming traffic. Next week, I'll probably ask people to comment on what times they arrived and how the traffic was at that point.

Hey Bamanut don't feel bad I plan on being down there by 8:30 or 9 am at the latest but then again I always get down there very early for games.

I'd do it if I could! I've already had to put my foot down to the crew going down with me. 9:00 is the absolute latest I'm willing to leave town!

The University has spent a considerable amount of money to make the campus more beautiful. The purpose of the changes in tailgaiting are to make tailgaiting more safe and enjoyable plus protect the campus. There will be more bollards in place to keep cars from driving on the University lawns and there will be more emphasis on parking off site. The core of the campus will be closed to automobile traffic three hours before kickoff. The game day website also suggests avenues to exit after the game that should make things easier.

the university has put in posts all the way down univerisity up to frat row so no one can park on the side walk on the ride side of university moving towards the staduim just hope you didnt plan on parking there.

One of the reasons that sidewalk was put there to help with the foot traffic that will be coming from the new parking area near the intramural fields. I don't like the way it looks but they had to do it keep it clear for pedestrians.

Although it will help with foot traffic, it's purpose was a bike path. I thought that it was just a long sidewalk also. However, when you look at the path up close, you will see that it has a white dotted line going straight down the middle of the concrete. The white dotted line seperates the concrete into right and left lanes, for bicycles.

Actually it's for both pedestrians and bicyclists. We have a couple here in B'ham and they get quite busy with walkers & runners and a bicycle every now and then. It still amazes me how some groups of walkers (I let you figure out what sex they are!) insist on taking up the entire walkway and act how inconvenient it is for them to MOVE over just to let you get by.
