Did Harsin’s seat just get very hot?

Harsin, if canned by Auburn at the end of year, would be entitled to the balance of his contract which would be about $15 million. Considering Auburn’s remaining schedule and the fact they are near the bottom of the SEC in recruiting, short of a miracle I can’t see him back in 2023.

Chance of getting 6 wins, Auburn is 2nd to last in the SEC at 30.6%.

I am trying to come up with a win total that will allow Harsin to keep his job. Even if, and it's a huge IF, they manage to win 8 games, I still think he's gone. Even if he beats Bama this year, I don't think that will be enough. I'm honestly shocked he's still there to be honest.

It *might* be different if either:

1. He was winning big games
2. OR, he was recruiting at a high level

BUT, since he's not doing either his rear end has 1st degree burns from the hot seat.

Auburn football has gotten so bad that their fans don't even bother to post "War Eagle Anyway," on facebook after a loss anymore.
I have never seen their fans this sedated before. Even in 2012, I think they had hopes they would just get a new coach and turn things around. But they just seem lifeless right now.

He is only still there because they bungled his firing this past offseason. They wanted to fire him without paying the buyout.

Funny thing is, if they would have canned him "without cause" and paid him the $18 million this past spring, they would still be "ahead of the game" so to speak because at best he is looking at a 6-6 record, the bottom third in SEC recruiting, and a general malaise among the fanbase. And that is going to cost them a lot more than the $3 million they saved by keeping him this second year. Maybe Greene was the only roadblock to prevent it? I don't know, but certainly if he was, that obstacle has been removed.

If they drop the game against Mizzou on Saturday, Auburn and Harsin are staring at a 2012 Gene Chizik type season. Maybe not 3-9 bad, but they’ll certainly be close enough to smell it.

Tubbs $6,000,000
Chizik $7,500,000
Gus $21,400,000
Harsin $15,300,000
That's $50,200,000 to buy coaches out of their contracts. The total will increase when they buy the current staff out as well as the new coach hired to replace the current. Their NIL, new facilities, etc. are DOA.

They should have pulled the trigger when they had the chance in the offseason. Instead, they did all that "internal investigating", drug it out for weeks, only to say "nahh...he's all good", some fans went and rolled the old corner, some even said "in ya face, Bama" (I guess because the 2021 IB was a nail biter), some got giddy after a blowout win over Mercer, some were even pleased with the one score win over San Jose State. But then they get absolutely steam rolled at home by a team they nearly beat on the road last year. That game told nothing about Penn State. They are the same team that almost lost to Purdue. But it told everything about the barn

Are they still paying Gus/Did they have to pay him all of that? Since he was hired pretty quickly by UCF...

If he makes it through October, it would be a miracle. He is about to get another Auburn lottery payout.

That's not getting fired. That's winning the lottery. Tubbs even managed to get people to elect him to a US Senate post. Unbelievable?!
